Got the machine wet and turf mode went crazy locking and unlocking. Unplugged the solinoid so we could keep riding. This would wreck the diff if not stopped. If your on the trail and it acts up it’s an easy to get to connector. Glad we caught it early

I had this problem a couple months back and had to unplug it trailside. I cleaned the stack of grounds on the frame just ahead of the belt cover and cleaned all the connectors. I also removed the relay mounted to the frame above the solenoid and cleaned the mounting surface in case it grounds itself. Used dielectric grease on everything. So far so good.

I think Polaris did away with the Turf mode in 2017 and newer. (not all '17s I think)
If yours has Turf Mode:
Top = awd
Center = 2wd
Bottom = 1wd (turf)

turf went away in 18. We have 2 17s I really like my turf mode although I have seen a few pics of them destroyed. I feel like some of them could be due to this rapid unlocking and locking while under load.

Where is the turf mode plug that everyone is unplugging located? Not had a problem yet,but you never know.

Just curious what the advantage is to turf mode? I honestly have never used it out riding. I tried it in my yard once putting my rzr away and left a giant 1 wheel burnout in my grass.....never to be spoken of again in certain company…..

We use ours around the farm and on the roads around the house and it does not tear up the grass as much. Very noticeable on pavement.

Second on where is this connector that you have to unplug if this becomes a problem?

Can the Turf Mode solenoid be unhooked permanently with out throwing any codes?
Mine threw a code last year and had to go to dealer and have it cleared. I asked the mechanic about unhooking it, he thought it might throw a code.(young kid) Hooked it back up but have not used turf mode since.

You can unhook it, mine didn’t throw a code.

No codes both of ours are unplugged.

Do you think the solenoid could be modified to be a manually operated cable system? Jeep people do it with the swaybar system.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it's not 1 wheel drive right? It's just an open differential like most 2wd cars?

With it up on jack stands it reacts like any open differential car while turning the wheels by hand.
