Trickle Charging concern

I have a pro xp that makes noise when it’s trickle charging, with a brand new battery tender jr, and I’m not sure if I should be concerned or if it’s worth hunting down and fixing the issue. For reference, I use the quick connect/disconnect supplied with the car from Polaris and have been plugging into the 12V port in front of the shifter. It sounds like I’m getting feedback that cycles on and off out of the passenger side speaker when it’s plugged in and charging. Should I disregard it or do I have anything to worry about? Any advice is appreciated.

Sure handy to use that plug and not have to remove a seat. By your description it sounds like an electrical field transfer/interference. Might look to see with the plug wiring runs next to the speaker wiring. If so move them as far apart as you can. And/or wrap the plug wire with tin foil to isolate it/or wrap the speaker wire under the dash. Sounds like the cycling of the charger is setting up an input to the speaker.

I’ll try that! Appreciate the help.

My battery tender came with 2 ways to connect it: a wire with 2 clamps.. red and black and a connector. The other is a pig tail with a connector and cap with ring terminals on the other end. I secured the latter on the battery and zip tied the other end just to the left of the seat so that I can get to it easily.

Or charger too close to battery and ignited the hydrogen.

I have had the tinder jr get oddly warm. To the point where I don’t trust it. As for the noise. At one point my old machine did the same thing. Definitely something isn’t quite rite. Hard to say exactly what it could be. I’d go threw and check the connections from the ride command to the speaker where the noise comes from. The pigtail is cheap enough. I’d order one from Amazon and directly wire it. See if that fixes it. As for leaving the tinder plugged in. I personally don’t. I plug it in every couple weeks. If you find you have a parasitic draw. Get a high quality disconnect. If it’s under warranty. Have the Polaris knuckle heads figure it out. Good luck.

Battery chargers do occasionally fail and when they do, sometimes they send way to much voltage or current to a battery and eventually the battery can catch on fire. I have seen this happen personally. I know a man who lost his boat because the charger on the trolling batteries went bad and caused a fire. For this reason I personally never leave my charger plugged up on my boat or anything else long term.

Even though its not a charger, its the same principle. I had a truck where the voltage regulator failed in my alternator and my battery actually caught on fire from being severely overcharged going down the road. It's like anything else electronic, it can short internally and cause a fire. This is not the norm but does happen.

YMMV.

So I do not know what brand it was but I do know the guy takes care of his stuff. He does plumbing as a side gig and is very knowledgeable with tools and so forth. So his truck was parked in a garage with a mother in law suite attached. I would say the garage was about 8 years old. His truck had around 4000 miles on it and he does not drive it that much. He has a work truck he drives most of the time. He told my father personally the trickle charger started the fire. He lost garage, truck, tools, mower and green mountain grills. He sells them as well. That is all I know as far as specifics. When I see him I will ask him. But it was enough to scare me a little and enough to make me unplug mine. He lives two miles from me and I could see the smoke from the fire when it happened.

Battery Tenders (brand name) are not trickle chargers/float chargers. I bought a couple of float chargers a while back; threw them out after they killed a couple batteries. The Battery Tender is a smart charger.

Have 6 working right now. Have used them for years from RZR to lawn mower, vehicle batteries. So what's the problem. Have worked great and saved me the cost of many batteries. Yes, Battery Tender. The first such device on the market. One has to watch "smart chargers" as they can over charge and destroy a battery.
