Has anyone ever changed the seal that comes out from the front of the transfer case where the drive shaft hooks up too. Mines leaking and don't really want to pull the transmission to change the seal???Thx

I just had min in the shop for that and they had to fully take it apart toget to it. Luckily was still under manufacturers warranty, they showed it to me while it was torn down and shew lordy it was horrible, gah had the bed, shocks, airbox, everything down to just the motor. It was pretty much dissassembled in the back. Mine is a 2012 900XP.

Mine is leaking too. I'm thinking I can get the seal out and a new one in while in the car.

Mine only has 25 hours on it but I'm not taking it in for replacement because;

1) I modified the engine so it's probably my fault.

2) I put Alba's beefier axles on so it's probably my fault.

3) I drove it in the dirt so it's probably my fault.

4) I don't want it sitting at the dealer for god knows how long before I get it back.

Have manual and tools so here goes nothing!

Ok, I had some time to work at this tonight. Removed front diff, slid the driveshaft off to get to the seal. Now I had some 90 degree picks and try carefully to pull out on the seal since there is a metal insert inside. Didn't even move a hair so I took 2 sheet metal screws and attached a chain to them and screwed into the seal (be very careful) then I attached a ratchet strap to the loop in the chain and slowly pulled with the strap.
It came straight out! Now I need to grab a new one to put back in.
BTW this can be done without pulling the trans

My seal, AND my transfer case seal was both leaking. The actual gasket where the transfer case bolts together is where mine was also leaking, thats why i took it back to the dealer. Sorry about that, didnt fully read the post first time. Hope everything goes good putting it back in.

I took the pan off of mine and could see where the fluid was coming from the seal. I cleaned all the residue off the case and let it sit for two days and not one drop came out of it. ???? I checked the level of the fluid in the case and it was still good. I know it's the correct fluid cause it was purple.

So I jacked up the rear end with the intention of spinning the output shaft to see if it would leak again. Oops, don't try this while the car is in 4X4 (I forgot i put it in 4 wheel to crawl up the curb when I unloaded out of the trailer) :). Anyways, after putting it in 2 wheel drive, I let it spin for a good 5 minutes or so. Nothing. Not one drop. So I let it sit again for a day or so. No fluid coming from anywhere. Oh well.

I'll take some fluid with me to keep it topped off if necessary.

I also ordered and picked up a new seal, for about $16! Geezo. RZR premium at it's best!

I did mine last month. I didn't have to remove the front diff, I tapped out the roll pin on the yoke on the front of the drive shaft to give it forward movement. I removed the skid plate and the center console and had enough wiggle room to remove the drive shaft. I CAREFULLY drilled two holes in the seal face and using a seal picker (a nail with a short 90deg bend on the end would work) and the seal came out with a few tugs. I greased the back of the new seal and the output shaft and put a very thin layer of RTV silicone on the outer edge of the seal and tapped it in. After a good inspection of everything I put it all back together and all is perfect.
Since you have the skid plate off, why not relocate the fan relay out of the water and crap? .... It's a piece of mind thing that can bite rzr owners in the butt at any time if they don't do it...

Don't forget to drain and refill the trans fluid too!

Well, about 4 hours riding and no leaks from the previous leaking seal. Strange. Perhaps a little crud in it was making it leak and got cleaned out when I washed it.......IDK but its not leaking now!
