Just my luck did the glamis ride had a great time at china wall trans got stuck in high gear. Linkage moves and cable but wont shift. I know somethings loose inside I can hear it once in awhile rubbing in there. Any idea whats the common problem. Im hoping I dont have to pull the motor again but someone chime in please. Its an 08

Greg, when you say the linkage moves are you talking about the lever on the side of the case?
If it doesn't move my money would be on a jammed detent ball. If it does move but doesn't shift you'll have to dig deeper. Read thru this and try to check for the ball. I don't like your chances if your hearing something rubbing in there.

Make sure you understand the sequence of the bolt removal, or the ball could end up in the bottom of the case if it is where it belongs. Perhaps the ball is loose and the spring has got the shift plate jammed. I've been advising people to remove that upper ball before it causes problems on any 08s.

Man that sucks. I think its testing you. Did the loom take care of other issues?
Both the loom was bad bad but I had an older mcx computer the vacuum nipple according to trey could rub on the board causing issues which it did. I was one of the 2% this happened to. Took months to figure it out I hate electrical demons but it ran great this weekend. The BB kit wow well worth it.

Join the club, mine did the same thing this past weekend. Linkage just spins while the tranny remains in high gear. I dropped her off at the dealer Monday, more details to come soon as I hear something....

Dealer says motor, rear diff, axles all have to come out in order to fix it. Parts are on order and he plans to start on it as soon as they come in.
So he hasnt pulled it to see whats wrong yet Im pulling mine today.

Will do. They are backed up till this Monday, (the 1st) so I won't know anything till at least Tues. or Wed. at the earliest. I'll post what they find ASAP, hopefully with some pictures as well.

Pin on my shifting yoke broke. Old part number changes to a new one also changed out a couple of bearing just to make sure. Very impressed with the gear sizes in the trans very beefy. Lot cheaper then a new trans.

Also lesson learned if this happened to any of you and your stuck in a different gear then high, you could open the filler cap and change the fork with a screw driver to get it into the right gear.

Razorpilot, i appreciate ur information on this subject and i have the same problem. I am far from a Mechanic but i think i have enough common sence to get the gear case out, and i have already tore into it pretty good. Spent about 6 hrs total on it and im waiting on my clutch removal tool. I got everything else removed and just about every bolt binding it to something else has been removed. My question is do i have to pull the rear end apart or can i just "roll" the engine up a few inches to clear the mounting ears and pull the main gear case out through the cab? Another question i have is do u need a press or any specialty tools to tear the gear case down? Or should i take it to the dealer when i get it out? Thank you very much, Eric
