Im having problems with my 2012 RZR 800 LE. It doesnt have many hours on it at all, but the trans is sick. I went on a little trail ride a few weeks ago and I ran into a pretty nasty mud hole. I know I got some water into the Belt drive housing for sure. It was running like ur typical slipping, wet belt. It was barely moving but RPMs were fairly high. I took it on back to the trailer and took it home. When I got it home I put in a good 2 hours of pressure washing on it. I pulled it into my garage and parked it. It would drive, but still high reving. Thats not the problem Im concerned with, that seems normal for a wet belt. Well, my problem is last night I cranked it up and when I put it in reverse, It made a hard grinding noise. I tried to move it through all the gears and would even try to go in to Drive(forward). When grinding it in to reverse it and giving it gas it wouldnt move at all.... It sounds horrible now and it wont move. Its been sitting my garage, drying out for about 2-3 weeks now. SORRY SO LONG ! ANY IDEAS ????

You need to clean out your clutch and probably replace the belt. It doesn't sound like a transmission problem. The clutch bearing is probably seized causing the belt to turn the secondary at idle. If it's been sitting there that long it is probably rusted up. That's why you can't shift. You need to remove the primary and clean it up.

Thanks ! Yeah I bought a clutch kit a few months ago just hadnt taken the time to install it yet. I was considering a new belt too. Thanks for the help, I was starting to get worried that my new machine was seriously broken.... I'll check all that out. I gotta get me a snorkle system too. I dont try to sink my RZR everytime I go out but, shit happens. I think a snorkle would just be good insurance.

Billy,

When you "thoroughly pressure wash" your RZR...do you stuff a rag in the CVT exhaust duct under the bed? If you're not careful you can fill the CVT housing with water. And that usually turns all the dust in the clutch to mud.

The primary clutch bearing isn't really a "sealed bearing". Thus, over time, water and very fine debris can get into the bearing and it will begin to fail.

Just thoughts,
