If you are looking at to use it as a GPS for maps a basic tablet is cheaper and much more capable. There are several popular trail apps available for android and apple products.

 

Thanks for the reply RZR JOE, yes I'm looking for GPS and maps, this unit is water proof and thought that would be a big plus. Are any tablets out there that are water proof?

You can get a life proof case for just about all of the tablets. And they are waterproof
