I just Got a 2009 RZR S. As far as atv, I own a 08 400 HO sportsman, and a 06 800. The 800 I have a set of Mattrax tracks for it. With some added mods such as Gorilla axels etc....the tracks more than pay for themselves....I got the RZR to replace the 800 which I am going to sell. I live in AK and with the RZR I can use my same tracks just get a different mounting system. Anyone have any experience with these tracks on a RZR. If not I soon will. I already have a set of two winches ( a 3.5 warn for the front and 3.0 for the rear) Anyone tinkered with and welded a winch on the back of a RZR.
Hope to have many good times to share

The tracks I have have no help, But the winch in the rear im thinking of doing. I was gonna bolt mine on the top of the bed and bolt it to the main bolts for the bed with some heavy brackets holding the winch. Ill loose bed space but im building a lil mule to make up for it.
I did see on here a guy put a winch in were the muffler sits under the bed, (he had dual exhaust exiting someplace else) It was really trick!:ride:

I've got a set of Prospector Pro-S tracks for my RZR-S. Looking forward to it. Sled trails are tight in this neck of the woods, so might need to convert my S to a standard 50" come winter to get through. I can't believe how wide a S is with tracks. If I lived in northern Maine, it would not be an issue, but down south it's tight woods runs a lot of times.

Love the tracks......such a nice way to enjoy a winter day with the wife or kids. It's not a race, like with friends on tires. Just more leisure and time to check out the surroundings.

X2. Tracks are pretty rough on the dirt, but they provide insane traction. They just go though things that make you shake your head. The gearing is lower and they run the AWD system when turned on, so it's just a crazy mix of four large area tracks biting onto anything and everything they can. Awesome in the snow.

I am a Mattracks dealer and we have installed several sets on the mini-trucks, but not on a RZR (yet!). The tracks are tough and are 'all terrain'. We run them in the dunes alot. They dont really like the rocks (rough ride and hard on them). Great for mud. snow, sand, dirt, swamp, etc.

Here are a few pics of the mini trks-- the rzr uses the same tracks-

Ya I was gonna go with Matraxx lites but their website is misleading.

Was all prepared to spend 4k on them for the RZR cuz thats the price that is all over the page that offers them for the RZR.

Then I call to order them for the RZR and the dude says 6k plus.

So thats why I went with the Prospectors instead.

I put Camoplast Tatou 4S tracks on my RZR-S last fall and had them on for 2 months (100 miles) when I blew the transmission. The local dealer told me as well as another RZR dealer that Polaris has a service memo out that says that the factory recommends NOT putting any type of tracks on the S models but says nothing about the standard RZR. I suspect something with the longer suspension. Paid $3800.00 dollars new and sold them for $3000.00 2 months later, not my best investment but it sure looked "Kick Ass".

PS- The drive sprocket on the track is approx. 13" vs the stock 26" stock tires. Top speed was only about 30 to 35 mph at a very high RPM and it went thru gas like there was no tomorrow. I will have to say it would go just about anywhere.

That's strange since Polaris specifically makes a track mounting kit for both the Standard RZR and the S. I've got the Prospectors and plan to mount up a 50" suspension on my S during the winter.

Devil....That's cool you got tracks. I think the Prospectors are the way to go since Polaris has them made to spec for their gear. You should see a lot more than 25-30mph out of yours, but I mostly just cruise around anyway. Definitely use more gas though. Keep a good eye on your ball joints and bushings. -Mattracks are too big and heavy. Did you see the weight of those?

I've though about getting a winch for the rear also. If/when I do, I'm going to mount it on a hitch and put a water tight plug of some sort on the power cables. Then I have the option of removing it easily when not needed. Also, it's putting strain on a location of the frame that was designed for it.

TJ, Would it be possible to convert your rear hitch to a 2", then wire the machine to the rear to accept an electrical plug....You then mount the winch to the rear hitch and plug it in....then remove and store when done. Would be easy and keep the winch safe when not used. Should be able to piece that together pretty easy with existing parts. I'm sure there's hitch receiver mounts out there on Jeep sites. Worth considering.

Yes, that's exactly it. 1 1/4" to 2" adapters are available if you wanted to go that route.

Ok I bought the prospector s tracks from polaris in nov 08 and put them on my sportsman 800 (top speed on radar 38 mph), I then bought a 850 xp (radar 58 mph) couldn't beleive the difference. i just mounted them on my 2011 rzr standard and hoping for 43 mph (don't know i will have to see) i do know that the h.o. motor should make a little difference for speed and fuel but time will tell, i'm glad i already owned the tracks this little project is starting to cost me some money lol. so far new 2011 rzr, windshield, wiper, roof, stereo, big horn tires, track mount kit, heater w defroster (works great),making my undercarrage protector, know looking at doors i don't no when too stop. On a side note A cheap rear view mirror setup, i took a honda accord rear view mirror and mounted it thru the roof with 1 bolt works great and doesn't move (cost about 2.00 from junkyard).

I am sorry for posting this here, I didn't see the rzr-s specific prior to post.

Mick....Too funny. I bought tracks for my XP850 too, then plan to put them on my '11 RZR. I'm in the same boat $$ wise. Everything is $500 bucks or more. Don't think I'm going to do the defroster and heater for now. Just a full windshield and roof. Need a track kit now.....another $500, plus the doors for another $500. It's a joke....$500 for those little-ass nothing doors. Then you need to ship them. I've got $700 seats coming soon too. Craziness.

Top speed doesn't bother me really. It's too unpredictable at those speeds on the trails and you can't stop in a controlled way at 40mph with tracks on icy trails. Way too many large trees here for that stuff. I use them more for cruising with wife and kids. No racing kind of riding, like on tires.

Ever make it up to Maine to ride?
