Totaled RZR

I hit a rock with my rzr and broke a few parts. I ordered all new parts and put it back together and realized that my upper a-arm mount was bent. So I called insurance to see if I could get a new frame paid for, and brought it to my local dealer and got an estimate. Went and checked it out today, and they are telling me that its going to be totaled. I dont talk to insurance until tuesday, but the dealership is convinced that the rzr will be totaled. Ive posted some pics on here to show you the "totaled" rzr, I'm cant say that i agree. on the estimate they have that a frame change is 24 hours worth of labor at $80 an hour. If it is totaled, I was wondering what I would be looking at to get back from insurance. The dealership told me that I would be looking at 60% of retail. I have no experience with this and I was hoping someone on here did. Its a 2008 gen1 rzr with 1700 miles. Also, if it is totaled, what are my options going to be on buying it back? When it originally happened, I had some parts that I planned on putting on it, and i broke a wheel in the accident, so I put on my wheels, shocks, and heavy duty tie rods after the accident when I was rebuilding everything. And now the dealership is telling me that I cant come get that stuff back until the insurance ppl look at it. I just dont want to lose those parts that dont even have one ride on them yet. Is my insurance gonna give me an opportunity to take that stuff back and put the original stuff back on? Sorry for all of the questions, I'm just kind of freaking out right now. I still owe $3000 so I dont want all of my hard work turning into about $1000 after paying it off. I appreciate any feedback.

You might lose out unless you can get it back from the dealer. If the insurance totals it you will often lose all that is there attached to it. Most times buying it back is not an option with ATVs/ UTVs since the resale of the good parts often exceeds the insurance payout. If you have receipts you may be able to have a little leverage too. GOOD LUCK, sorry.

Get it back and fix it. I see a little damage but nothing I couldn't fix in my garage (I do have a welder and bottles) but I don't see a frame replacement. It's a dirt vehicle, doesn't have to be perfect like a car does.

If I have already filed a claim, can I just go pick it up and tell him forget it? I'm new to all of this.

I dont mind just getting it back. Ive been building jeeps my whole life nd I have alot of really good friends that own the local offroad shop. so it can be fixed. I was just trying to get a new frame and rack and pinion for a $500 deductible. I honestly dont want it to be totaled. Especially with $2000 worth of parts on it that have never been used. Will I have the option to refuse the insurances offer and just walk? Also, when they give you a check for a totaled rzr, is it retail that they go by?

(Also, when they give you a check for a totaled rzr, is it retail that they go by?) This depends on if you have it insured for replacement value or current value..

Some insurance companys will allow you to pull off your extras on the vehicle especially if you did not have the extras insured with them. At least when my car was totaled that is what they allowed me to do. You can usually negotiate this with them and tell them the situation but of course dealing with a insurance agency is a pain in the a$$.

I beleive there is another thread with a totaled rzr where they offered him to buy it back after it was totaled out and it was around $5000. Search the forum and you will see that post.

I had a 2008 RZR that the insurance totaled out. I had all my receipts for the after market parts so I was able to show a high value to the RZR. They offered me 13K to total it out and I got the RZR back for next to nothing.
Here are a few pics of my first RZR after it got hit by a rail, alot of you guys haven't seen these before so I thought I would throw them up for kicks...............enjoy :ride:

Thats crazy. I dont think I have receipts for most of my stuff. and mine isnt upgraded nearly as much as yours. I'm just hoping that I get a decent amount and I get to keep my wheels and shocks. I'd love to buy it back if thats a reasonable option.

Had this happen to me on a snowmobile. The damaged parts were purely cosmetic, although time consuming to replace. I had a ton of upgrades on the sled and they wanted to total it. I said forget about it, I'll just take the sled back. After I decided that , my agent called me and said here's what we will do. We will pay you to fix it, but you have to sign this waiver that you can't insure with us anymore. I said fine. Got the sled back along with $3200 and found the parts on ebay for $500. A weeks worth of work and I was back on the trails. See if this can be an option for you. Or just don't deal with the insurace company all together, withdrawl the claim.

I had a bent frame and the insurance company wanted to total it. I asked for a second opinion and it was just under the amount to be totaled. The insurance gave me a check for the repair amount and I purchased and installed a new frame over a weekend. The parts were a lot less than the check so I added some cool accessories. (Compensation for my labor)
