A friend and I were following an X3 and we all took the wrong trail (snowmobile) The X3 never look back and decided to back up, like there's no tomorrow, right into me from a distance of approx. 20ft.

The worst thing was the winch that hit the left side of the front suspension. The rest of the damage are all plastic.
600 miles 27hrs and 3 weeks old.

Insurance appraiser came and I am waiting for the estimate

Can this kind of damage to a frame can be fix?

My experience in my area is if anything on the frame was touched they total it. Really depends on your insurance adjuster. I know if my guy came out it would be totalled. Especially since it's a rs1. They will only fix around 60% of the value. And I know a frame with labor is gotta b close to 5-6k. I buy a bunch of things from copart and it's amazing how easy your rig can get totaled

I would buy a frame stiffener for the front and use it to straighten things out. Would be a shame to total the machine for that. I’ve put mine over a couple of times and vent the roll cage wings up pretty bad. I’m sure insurance would pay out but it’s just not worth it to me. Don’t need my rates going up for something I can live with.

Just talk to the insurance adjuster and he totaled the RS1. Talk to him about swapping the frame for a new one, or do the repair to the existing frame .

Reframe not legal in Canada due to serial number.

Repair not possible one of the A arm attachment point has a stress crack just before the weld.

I will have to shop for a new one[emoji45]

This seems to me that it should be the other guy’s insurance paying out here. He hit you.

On another note, I’d find out about the buy-back price for your totalled RS1.

Yes, over here, when you’re not found responsible for a collision your insurance pay’s for your damage but collect the other party involved.

Apparently insurance companies look at SxS's like motorcycles. My XPT is on my motorcycle policy with Foremost.

If a $30,000 motorcycle falls over and gets a 1/8" scratch or nick in the frame, they total it. Frame damage no matter how small is automatically totaled.

Also, insurance co's don't do body repair/paint. They only do direct OEM replacement parts.

I had a bike get knocked over once. Tiny scratch in swingarm, $1400.....BB sized nick in tank.....$750.....Almost $5000 in damages from falling over while sitting still.

My first experience here in Ohio with a insurance claim on a RZR was about 6 years ago. Had a 900xp that I payed it on it's side. It broke the front fender and put a bunch of scuffs on the cage. Not dents or bends just paint scratches. Mind you at that time the machine had 200 miles on it. They totalled it within minutes of looking at it. My adjuster said if the frame is even scratched the insurance companies will total it out due to the liability of possible frame damage. Pretty crazy too me! But I have buddies that purposely put 30k of insurance on so they can total it every 2 years to get a new RZR. I know it's ins fraud but when they write a rzr like a BMW car it's crazy easy to have them totalled out. They literally look at every single scuff and scratch even if it's general wear.

Mine is $314 yr with Foremost and is categorized on my policy as a ‘street legal all terrain vehicle plus endorsement’.

Meaning ive had my motorcycle license/endorsement (for over 25 yrs) so i guess theres a discount in there for that.

100k/300k, trailer coverage, $5000 accessory coverage, roadside, trip interruption coverage, etc and i mean etc.

I would add that there probably aren't many claims from people with scrapes, scratches, dents and dings on their machine because that is so inherent in using the machine. Most people don't even consider filing an insurance claim for using the machine for what it's intended for.

Also, there's probably not a lot of medical payouts on an insurance claim, unlike a motorcycle whereas you're almost guaranteed to have injuries in a 2 wheeled crash.

Maybe we're just a bunch of safe responsible drivers. :)

This was probably totaled, bought back for $4000 and selling for $10k. Probably not a bad deal though. https://cincinnati.craigslist.org/snw/d/hebron-2017-polaris-rzr-xp1000/6817970200.html

There are lots that claim anything and everything through their insurance. These are some of the same people that want anything and everything covered and fixed under warranty. I know of a few personally, 1 turned in a blown up engine on a xp900, once fixed he sold it, bought a new xp1k, about a month later rolled it over a hillclimb, turned it in on insurance totalled it out, bought it back for cheap, then fixed it. Sooner or later all these claims that really should be out of pocket are going to catch up with ALL of us. Then the rates will be through the roof. Don't get me wrong, if I truly total mine, then you better believe I'll be filing a claim, but for normal crap thats gonna happen to any offroad vehicle I'd rather eat the cost. But thats just me. As for the OP, unless the damage is far worse than the pics indicate, and it very well maybe, I wouldn't have even messed with insurance. But I've done worse damage just cruising the trails around here, and never skipped a beat.

I cannot believe its totaled either. I end over ended my yxz bent the frame and cage pretty bad $ 10,800. dollars of damage. Took complete new frame aftermarket cage all new plastics plus since it was all apart they installed a lot of accessories for me when they were putting it all back together. Still have it today and my ins full coverage for my yxz and my Rs1 comes to $323 a year.
