Sometimes the pliers in the tool kit will not get a good hold without messing up the head of the fastener. A simple flat head screw driver to pry up the head a bit will save you a lot of headaches. Hold the head up with the screwdriver and grab it with the pliers. Make sure that the head slips into the small groove in the pliers or you will mess it up. Your tool kit should have a few extra fasteners in it in case you jack one up.

This is the first machine that I have ever bought and it had these pliers available. I love them, before I always did the screwdriver and neddle nose or something to grab it and usally ended up messing them up and installing new. Now I just wish could find a little better quality plier then what they provide, wish Snap-On made a set :)

Like Steve said....except I use a pair of diagonal cutting pliers to get under the head and pry it out...just don't squeeze too hard and cut the head off. Very easy to remove this way and with just a little care you will not damage the rivet.

I use two small wrenches.. Doesn't matter the size. Like 7/16" and 10mm. Just use the open end of both wrenches to pry up the center.. Works every time with out messing up the rivet.
