What do y'all think of the xp1k products from tmw? I'm thinking about doing their doors with the front bumper and the stage 4 cage. Anyone running any of these and if so results?

It all depends on what one you order mine is a V2 and is the perfect size I'm 5'10 ... They have the best quality by far ... My friend tried getting a cage from "the big company thats in so cal" and never even got a call back :rm_thumbdown: once Dubai copies there stuff they won't need them no more !!! They should take care of local customers first instead of focusing on over seas customers first ...every time I deal with tmw Adam and Doug ALWAYS get it handled :)

Their products might be ok but their costumer service is HORRIBLE. I called and ordered front bumper then cancelled order due to totaling my 1K. When I called them they said no problem they hadnt even finished the run and would refund my cc. Weeks later no refund. So I submitted a credit dispute via my cu. I received a call once they received the form and I was asked if I was willing to cancel the dispute because it was " a lot of info on their end they had to provide". I stated I would check with my cu and let them know what needed to happen. I spent over 2hrs at my cu for them and 6 messages 13 calls and 1 email later over the last week and half still no response from them. Now I cant even get them to answer the phone all I get is vmail. Still no refund.

Ok thanks.. I like all of y'all's cages. They look great. I am still concerned about the height issues but am going to talk with the guys to see which one would fit best. The V4 looks slick, makes it look more like a sand rail but not sure if that'll be comfortable with taller/bigger people.

Highly recommend....just be patient. Customer service from Adam has been great you just have to be persistently polite!

Our doors fit great....seats and cage are supposed to ship this week. The V4 we got is for people 5'9 and shorter I think...if you ask they will give you advice for what will fit you.

I waited two half months for a bumper finally Feb on a Friday was told it was in. My dealer went Monday to pick up no bumper. They sold over weekend canceled order I will never have any of there stuff on my car twice I've been burnedbby them. Last time they had my rig for three months To build a cage . never touched it left it outside faded all interior and brand new 3 inch belts . and they wouldnt do anything about it finally just went and picked it up. Horrible customer service .
If you do go with there bumper look at the bends buddy went and got it. It not straight one side is closer to the plastic grill then the other pretty noticible .

TMW makes top notch products and I've never had a problem with their customer service! They treated me great when I bought my 900 cage last year...I like them so much I just ordered the v3 cage and doors from them for my 1000. Have a couple friends that also had cages from tmw and one guy had doors on his 900xp4, they recommended them to me and now I'm recommending them to you. You won't regret it!

Glad this thread isn't closed down...I just searched TMW using the fourm tool and nothing came up, so I started a new thread, but then ran across this one.

I just wanted to add my two cents now...and I'll follow it up in a couple days to a week to add pics and more comments.

So I did a lot of searching for the perfect cage. Looked at a million pictures and finally decided the TMW Off-Road V4 was the one I wanted. I made an order on 6 August (2014) for the Venom V4 cage, a Venom F1 Front Bumper, a 30" Rigid Industries light bar, and a Rigid Industries 10" light bar. All my dealings have been with Adam, and pre-sale he was very responsive and a pleasure to work with. I'd give him a 5 out of 5 star rating in pre-sale customer support. After the sale was complete, I was told the order would take 5 weeks. Well…I still don’t have it, and for those who aren’t good at math (like me), my calculator says tomorrow will be 9 weeks. Let me first say that when building something custom, I totally get that build times can vary, and I expected that, and let me be clear, I AM NOT here to “hate” or complain, I just want to share the experience and once it all comes in, share the quality and install so you can see it (through pictures) and ask questions…after all, that’s what we come to the forums for…information and sharing!

Back to the story…I think I left off at the sale. Again, the pre-sale was wonderful. Adam was very knowledgeable, friendly, and just a pleasure to work with…then there was the sale. Everything was fairly priced, my card was charged, and the build began. Well, that was pretty much the end of communications, unless “I” initiated a conversation (which happened multiple times after the 5 week mark), and as one person posted…which is a perfect comment so I’ll borrow it…you need to be very “persistently polite”. Every email I sent was responded to in a couple of days, to almost a week or more. In my opinion, and I work in a customer service based business, a little effort, when it comes to customer support and keeping the customer informed, goes a LONG way. The lack of timely responses has annoyed me for going on 4 weeks now. The latest email I received was that the cage was ready and shipping out, but they were still waiting on the bumper to come in. Wait a second…you’re waiting on a bumper, that’s smaller than the cage, and it’s been 9 weeks and it’s not in yet? Hmmmm..what’s going on here? Well, I don’t have that answer because Adam hasn’t responded to the email I sent. Again, the customer support is now lacking since they have my money. When will I get everything I ordered? Well, that is the (a little over) $4,000 question.

Let me say it one more time, I’m not here to hate or complain. Yes, it’s frustrating that a company doesn’t care enough to call and say, “Hey, just a heads up, we’re running behind on the build. We think it’ll take closer to 9-10 weeks.”, especially when you’re paying that kind of money, but what can I do? I just expected more…I expected that the service post-purchase would match that of the pre-purchase…but whatever, I’m still excited to get it and see what it looks like on, and share the pics and opinion on build quality with you all. It’s a beautiful looking cage from what I’ve seen on Google, and within this thread, so hopefully it’ll match my expectations.

Poor customer service seems to be a theme in the UTV industry. I think much of it stems from this sport being fairly new. Most companies started as a small fab shop, that made something people liked and the companies grew. The problem is most owners have Zero business skills. Some people just have the natural ability to run a business, and others need to be taught. The ones who need to be taught, need to take business classes.

Why is it they want to be paid before they deliver a product to the customer? How many businesses require you to "pay in full" before they build or you get the finished product or service? I dont know of many if any. And most of the time if you are having something custom built that is costly, you put down a deposit or pay in scheduled increments as the project is coming together.

If you are buying something from a company and they require you to pay in full before they start building, then you need to move on! For one they should have the capital to cover the cost of the item. Two; a deposit is acceptable to show good faith on both parties. Most times a deposit is meant to cover cost of the material, so the company does not have any out of pocket expense for material.

I was assisting a friend in a full buggy build. He found a chassis builder who he liked. When it came time to negotiate the pricing, I suggested the payments be in installments, as progression of the build took place. I had heard of people who had some issues with this particular business before. The work was good, just the business side was not well regarded.

Once we came to an agreed price and a deposit price, we ran into a road block. The owner did not want to agree to a payment schedule based on progress. And he did not like my other term of a penalty for not making deadlines. BTW I allowed him to set the deadlines, but he did not want to stand behind his deadlines. At this time my friend started seeing the red flags I saw before going to this builder. He chose to not go with this guy, as he saw what I saw. This guy was all talk and did not want to back up what he said. My friend ended up going with another much more reputable company which worked by the guidelines, I wanted the first builder to go by. My friend was much happier with the results of his build, and everything was on time.

So my lesson for the day is;
Put everything in writing.
Never pay In full.
Only pay a deposit.
Require a date the items will be done by.
Ask what their penalty is for not meeting the required dates they set?

This will tell you what sort of company you are doing business with.

I agree with almost all of what you've said especially about the poor customer service as a theme in this industry. In our build leading up to the sand show it was one supplier after another who dropped the ball. And that is why I disagree with your requirement for the penalties for not meeting dates. In my experience it was not the builders fault for missing the deadlines it was other suppliers. In any event I don't think your gonna find too many builders to agree to that requirement anyway.

If you are having a custom, one off, cage built, I think you should pay up front, too many flakes and looky loos these days to not get the money up front. Now if buying a production cage from one of these companies I completely agree with you NIKAL.

TMW makes some really nice stuff and builds some seriously nice cars. However, they way I was treated there while asking questions was less than desirable. I have never been back since, no matter how nice their stuff is.

Then I go to UTV Inc. TOTALLY DIFFERENT STORY!!!! As soon as I walked in I was acknowledged. As soon as somebody was available my questions were answered, and I got the feeling that I could have stayed there all day and just talking to them with out spending a dime. They also build some very nice rides, and have great looking accessories.

My outlook on the subject......

TMW doesn't act like they want customers in their way, UTV Inc does, with a smile, and a have a good day. So it's not an across the board deal. There are good companies in the UTV industry.

Funny I called tmw after the Utv invasion to get a cage and the guy on the phone was just not into selling me parts it seemed like just rubbed me the wrong way altogether. Wouldn't even try to work with me I don't know maybe he took me for a tire kicker.

Called Utv inc and spoke with Jeff he was really into answering questions and checking on request. The way Jeff treated me was second to none.
I ended up dropping like 8k with them that day due to good service on his part.
