Tire Chain Questions

My tires are getting worn out, and I use my RZR to plow snow in the winter. When I plow, the front end really pushes out. I have a circular driveway that is sloped out which makes the pushing worse.
So my questions are:

1. Can I install chains on the front tires only? Will that screw up the AWD system?

2. What size chain do I need for a 26 x 9 x 14 tire?

Thanks for any input!

I use my 800 Rzr (stock tires, 72" plow) to plow a pond for a skating rink. I use chains on the front tires only which greatly reduces the side slipping with the blade angled and allows me to push much more snow. I can also plow faster without sliding around on the corners. Front-only chains shouldn't hurt the driveline at all because the traction is still way less than you would have on dirt. These chains have the aggressive V-shaped lugs with the two points biting into the surface. It does chew up the ice a bit especially if you spin the tires and it will also scratch up concrete or asphalt driveways... something to consider. I take the chains off when plowing my or my neighbor's driveways for that reason. Tires alone seem to provide enough grip and can push a lot of snow.

I can't comment on the correct chain size but each manufacturer should specify what theirs will fit.

Thanks. After talking with Rocky Mountain ATV, I ordered the chains from them yesterday, and they will be here tomorrow. I have always had good luck with Rocky Mtn. I wondered about marking up my asphalt driveway, so I wll try to take it easy. I may just have to get some new tires, and dig the the trailer out of the snow so I can get it to the shop and get the tires mounted.

Hopefully they will fit my 14" wheels ok.

26" chains for 26" tires and also the ones for your tire width. They are pretty specific on sizing. They have Both the "studded" V style as well as the standard chain. Any tire store or your POPO dealer can get them as well as most major outdoor store(Cabellas,Bass Pro...) Also check www.sportsmansguide.com
