Knowing nothing, or nobody from Popo, I do believe they've got to be up to something. You have to believe they are seeing a reduction of sales with the wildcat. The wildcat seems to be stumbling somewhat out of the block, especially for duners, due to a less than optimal clutch design for that environment. The aftermarket seems to be rather slow at providing a good, reliable answer for this, but from my research, it appears that when this obstacle is finally overcome, the XP, as it is today, will become second choice due to suspension and "frame" design. (yes, AC is having some quality control issues, but that can be overcome fairly easily)
So, what I think Popo will likely do, at some point in the near future, be it at the summer meeting, or 1-1-13, IF they are truly looking forward, and not just at this quarters profits, is to address the obvious weakness in the rzr platform: the frame/suspension. Hopefully this will include a move to a stronger, mono frame along the lines of the wildcat (no, not a copy), and at least equal the suspension capabilities of the cat. In the process, I hope they are smart enough to strengthen the horrible suspension mounts as well as provide a significant increase in the life of suspension bushings. In the frame redesign, perhaps they'll make a bit more "roomy" cab. This would put them on an even footing with an aftermarket modified wildcat. Then, should AC address the clutch issues, and fix the quality issues, all Popo has to do to remain ahead of them, would be to increase engine size/performance, and stay the leader in the category. (at least in a "OEM" world, where advertising would be targeted)
Of course the other benefit of this would be a redesigned "look", as the rzr design is now about 5 years old, and that seems to be about where vehicles start to look very "dated". So with some effort, Popo can stay at the front of the pack. At least that's the way I would be looking at it...YMMV
