Very EASY to Install ... Takes approximately 1/2 to 1 hr from start to finish...


Instructions are for either XP 900 or XP 1000:


1) Blow out the Spark Plug Holes and The top of the Valve Cover

2) Remove the Valve Cover

3) Remove the Spark Plugs

4) Remove the Clutch Cover

5) Rotate the Primary Clutch "COUNTER CLOCKWISE ONLY" (Never Turn Engine
Clockwise) until the (E's) on the Exhaust Cam Gear and (I's) On the Intake Cam Gear line up horizontal with the top edge of the head

6) Verify TDC (Timing Mark is on the flywheel)

7) Remove the stock tensioner

8) Put a very minute amount of sealer on the Mechanical Tensioner threads

9) Remove your metal seal from the stock tensioner and install it on the Mechanical Tensioner

10) Thread the Mechanical Tensioner all the way into the cylinder and tighten the tensioner with a wrench

11) Tighten the center adjuster bolt as far as you can by hand then turn it another 1/4-1/2 turn more with a wrench and tighten the lock nut with a wrench

12) Visually check to make sure the Cam Chain is in the gear teeth and seated correct

13) Rotate the Primary Clutch "COUNTER CLOCKWISE" 1 full revolution to make sure cam chain is properly engaged with the gears

14) Re-Install the Spark Plugs

15) Re-Install the Valve Cover

16) Re-Install the Clutch Cover

17) If the Mechanical Tensioner is LOOSE it'll make a slapping noise on start up (re-adjust the tension )

18) If the Mechanical Tensioner is to TIGHT it'll make a whining noise (re-adjust the tension)

TAGTEAM Mechanical Tensioner XP 900 or XP 1000...

Very EASY to Install ... Takes approximately 1/2 to 1 hr from start to finish...


Instructions are for either XP 900 or XP 1000:


1) Blow out the Spark Plug Holes and The top of the Valve Cover

2) Remove the Valve Cover

3) Remove the Spark Plugs

4) Remove the Clutch Cover

5) Rotate the Primary Clutch "COUNTER CLOCKWISE ONLY" (Never Turn Engine
Clockwise) until the (E's) on the Exhaust Cam Gear and (I's) On the Intake Cam Gear line up horizontal with the top edge of the head

6) Verify TDC (Timing Mark is on the flywheel)

7) Remove the stock tensioner

8) Put a very minute amount of sealer on the Mechanical Tensioner threads

9) Remove your metal seal from the stock tensioner and install it on the Mechanical Tensioner

10) Thread the Mechanical Tensioner all the way into the cylinder and tighten the tensioner with a wrench

11) Tighten the center adjuster bolt as far as you can by hand then turn it another 1/4-1/2 turn more with a wrench and tighten the lock nut with a wrench

12) Visually check to make sure the Cam Chain is in the gear teeth and seated correct

13) Rotate the Primary Clutch "COUNTER CLOCKWISE" 1 full revolution to make sure cam chain is properly engaged with the gears

14) Re-Install the Spark Plugs

15) Re-Install the Valve Cover

16) Re-Install the Clutch Cover

17) If the Mechanical Tensioner is LOOSE it'll make a slapping noise on start up (re-adjust the tension )

18) If the Mechanical Tensioner is to TIGHT it'll make a whining noise (re-adjust the tension)
