My 2010 rzr has frozen cables that wont stay thawed. the rzr and i are miles away from nowhere and thats no place the rzr wants to be. I need to change my throttle cable and my shift cable. they are both frozen. ive thawed them out but they keep freezing and getting stuck sometimes wide open. could someone tell me how to change these. (in detail.. im new to this)
Thanks

You could try and work some gas line antifreeze into the cables to thaw them out, then spray in some WD40 to displace the moisture. Don't know if it will work or not but might be worth a try. If that doesn't work and you have to change them you can down load a service manual. Someone on here will have a link to the /10 manual, sorry I don't.

both are easy changes but if you need to get it back to civilization you can pull the clip off the shift cable at the transmission and shift it by hand. The throttle cable you can use a syringe full of rubbing alcohol or antifreez and shoot the liquid down the cable to free it up.

to change the shift cable remove seats, engine panel and console loosen the jam nuts on the cable at the shifter and transmission then snake it out and new back in.

throttle cable can be removed by removing seats, engine panel and console plus take hood and storage tray out looking down thru this hole will give you access to the top of the throttle cable

remove the c-clip holding the throttle cable in the bracket now go to throttle body remove the 4 screws hlding the cover on the side of the throttle body this will allow you to remove the cable. you will have to thread the new cable back thru the fasteners under the floor hlding it away from the propshaft

there are a couple clips to remove and some adjustments to be made but they are pretty obvious once you get started...good luck

Thanks so much for the info you were spot on! Tried lock deicer down the cable and no luck so i got one and put it in. It was easy just like you said. I also got a shift cable and havent put it in yet but looks to be easy as well. For now ill just shift it by hand. ( it was -34c when i changed the throttle cable!). Sorry for not posting sooner but i wasnt able to loggon for some reason. Thanks for helping a fellow rzr guy out! Oh ps. another guys quad throttle cable froze up to and we tried wd40; it sprang back to life and he was on his way. He thought I was a genious for fixing it for him! HaHa if he only knew I am such a rookie but it did spur me to change my fuel pump thinking that i might have a little mechanical know how... I popped the clips around the pump and pulled the black thing off that conects onto the top of the pump itself put the new pump on then realized there was a little black wire hanging off that got pulled out of somewhere. The one end is attached to the side of the black part by a flat bendy conector. The wire is the same gauge wire as the black wire conected to the fuel level thing. I just cant figure out where this wire pulled out from. Any ideas? I might have to start a new thread and mabe not get so adventurous! The fuel pump works and my machine is back in action. Still dont know where the wire goes to.
Man, I love this thing!

I had the same issue with my throttle cable on my 08. I disconnected the cable from the front and injected antifreeze into the cable with a syringe(that you can get at any drugstore). Then I re-routed the cable along the rad hose with cable ties, as far back as it will allow, and I've never had any more freezing issues.

On removal of throttle cable, when you your ready yo pull it out(you have to pull it out from the front, tape a small dia piece or rope or a long wire to the throttle body end of cable, them pull cable and the rope/wire will lay in its place. Untape old cable, tape throttle body end new cable to rope/wire and pull on rope from rear pull the cable back thru inplace.

Btw, up front there are two torx screw that mount cable to firewall

Been having an issue with shifter on my 11 S too. Bought a new cable works fine now but I normally ride in deep water/mud is there a better solution to keep water out of new cable or stop it from freezing in winter months. Been thinking of adding snowmobile grip heaters to cable with switch just to thaw in winter months. Has anybody tried that?
