Ok this weekend im gonna install front bearings, ball joints, and tie rd ends becuase they all have some slack. Well today I noticed when I turn my steering wheel i can turn it almost a half of a turn before it actually turns the wheels. Is this the rack itself or do I just need a steering bushing? How can I tell?

I had the same issue, the boots let water/sand in and the bearing that the steering shaft went was gone causing it to have play in the front end. Best way to tell is to get a buddy (or 6 year old daughter:rofl3to help inspect where the play is coming from.

well if I look at it when I turn the steering wheel it turns the shaft inside the rack it just doesnt turn the same time meaning its got slack.
