Just lost my second starter over an 18 month time period. Feel somewhat certain that high amps needed to spin a cold engine with advanced timing is the cause. Does anyone have knowledge of where to find the best quality starters? Or, are they all the same?

Something to verify on installation.

Warning from Polaris shop manual.
"Tighten the lower starter bolt first, as the bottom hole acts as a pilot hole to propserly align the starter drive (bendix) with the flywheel. This helps prevent binding and starter damage."
