When MotoXXX and I were installing a turbo on his RZR we noticed that the starter cables had been rubbing on the transmission case so much that they were wearing grooves into the case. These cases aren't super thick, so we moved the cables to the other side of the vent line to rub in a new spot.

I checked mine today and it was the same.
Here is a cell phone pic of the wear spots on mine:

Good info....not to mention if the insulation wore through on the hot cable...would be some nice fireworks during a start.
I noticed the same issue on mine today when I started tearing it down for the turbo install. Actually I was looking at them close becuase of the post about them pinching off the clutch intake. I just pulled the cables toward the starter to give them some slack and zip tied them tight to that plastic clamp they go through...that holds them up off the tranny case.

Good info just checked mine doing the samething. I put wire lum around it and zipped tied it up and out of the way. Good post!

Another thing that helps is to turn the postive cable at the solenoid so cable comes off straight to the rear instead of down..that gives the cable some more slack..

getting the cables up off the trans case completely would be the best.
Agreed..With the extra slack from turning the positive cable at the solenoid and the zip tie I was able to get them up off the case completely.
Notice the chaff mark on the case already, this machine is basically brand new..
