Stage 3 tuner

Wife got me a tuner for Christmas, I went with the tuner that requires no additional modifications so I chose stage 3. Applying the tune was fairly straight forward, about an hour of riding my machine threw two codes notified the tuner manufacturer and they sent a couple of new tunes. Flashed the ECU with the new stage 3 tune and rode for about an hour then I got the same codes.

520344/17 & 3056/4

I have not yet put the stock tune back on as it has been fairly cold around here but will soon. I have a 2018 XPT just looking to see if anyone else has had similar issues? My machine is completely stock except for this tuner. Customer service has now gone kind of silent and I have since sent a couple emails that have not been responded to.

thoughts?

Thanks,

TM

I am going to guess it is not the tune but more just a coincidence that it happened after tuning.
There are 2 things I would suspect ...
1... O2 sensor is bad or going bad this would be code 3056/4
2... Fuel pump is getting weak and needs to be replaced. This would also explain the Lean condition code 520344/17

It is very common for the O2 sensor to fail. I have had several go out. These 2 codes go hand in hand
I would start with the O2 sensor it is quick and easy ...if you know some one that has another machine you could borrow it for a test .
Your 2018 will not be the Blue wire O2 ..just the standard O2.... Polaris Pt# 4016021

Do not disagree at all here but I do have my stock tune on now however I have not ridden since this tune has been put back on. With this stage 3 tune it really does suck the fuel so maybe it will run lean and will be fine with stock tune indicating a weak fuel pump?

Rode yesterday the machine sent codes immediately with the stock tune. Will replace the O2 sensor first then the fuel pump just seems odd to me never had an issue and within a couple of hours with this tuner I have issues. One last thought is I am using these guys "stock" tune I am thinking about going to the dealership and having the actual Polaris data plugged back in.

It should have downloaded the stock file / tune ...so the stock tune should be yours.
I would start with the O2 sensor ....if for some reason your Polaris dealer doesn't have one.. the Indian motorcycle uses the same O2 same part number ...since there Polaris as well

SuperATV sends the tunes you purchase plus what they call the "stock" tune, I just replaced the O2 sensor with this one I got off Amazon started the unit and had the same codes so I flashed it with the stage 3 to clear the codes but after a few minutes of idling they returned. Called the local dealer they will flash the ECU with what I am hoping is a 2018 XPT code for $65.00, guess I will go this route to see if I can clear the check engine light.

I'm gonna bet with a stock tune it starts working again. No real reason, I've just heard of a few corrupt tunes come from SATV that have been resolved with a factory reload to factory stock and then a new tune from SATV. In fact, for sure keep listening to the other guys suggestions. But I'd sure want to do an ECU swap before I did anything else...

Yes, tuners drink fuel. In the quest for "most HP" they tend to go really rich to both deliver that last possible HP and buy themselves some breathing room from ping & etc.

I don't give two rats asses what SATV said about not needing anything else: Any credible stage 3 tune should include at least a cat gut from the muffler and AA's wastegate adjustment.

Yes, Ethanol makes fuel burn worse. So does excess octane. AA will tell you he prefers straight 91 over 93 ethanol in his stage 3 tune if you ask him.

Good luck!
