Here is the problem. Cruising along listening to the stereo. Turn the RZR off, stereo is still on and sounds great. Go to start the RZR back up and it reboots the system which pauses the tunes. Usually it only requires pushing the play button and the music comes back. Sometimes it loses the connection to sub and the whole system has to be rebooted to work. Anyone else have this issue? How have you fixed it?

Anyone else have this issue? The machine was less than a year old when I installed the stereo and it has done it since it was first installed. I know that the battery could have been bad then but that is unlikely here 1.5 years later and it still starts the machine fine. I would be happy to buy a new battery but I would rather confirm that it doesn't do this on other machines before throwing parts at it. I have heard two voltages from SSV - at least 12 volts from James and at least 10 volts from Greg.

If it is the battery, what is the recommendation for a new battery? Oem? Optima? No-Name it doesn't really matter?

I appreciate your responses.

I have the SSV Stage 3 on my XP1k. Works great but I have a dual battery setup with a smart isolator.

I hate when people don't post after they solve problems so here goes. I purchased a new battery and during the install I super cleaned all of the connections. The few times I have tested it the system stays on while starting... success! Thanks for the help.

Interesting... What battery did you put in? My SSV overhead does the exact same thing that you described. What's odd is that did it since I installed it in my brand new 2014 XP1K and it still does it after I moved it to my new 2017 XTP... I bought the SSV new shortly after I bought the XP1k and its always rebooted. It's a pain to since I have to reconnect the Bluetooth every time I start the machine.

Update - claimed success to early. Riding today and its back at rebooting when starting. It was after racing around for 20-30 minutes so the battery should have been fully charged. Hmmm??? Has anyone solved this? Capacitor?

From what I have read it is normal for a battery to drop to 10 volts while starting. I suspect that the SSV system cannot handle that drop and causes it to lose the bluetooth connection and sometimes the connection to the subwoofer. The question is would a capacitor fix this issue? How would one go about sizing and installing such a device?

I talked with James at SSV a couple of times today. I do appreciate SSV and their team trying to solve this problem for me. The only solution he was able to provide though was to add a second battery. I guess that is an option but really don't want to add the weight.

I'm still thinking a small capacitor may prevent the voltage drop which reboots the SSV Works system. Someone who knows more about capacitor's than me should try this.

Update...

Although SSV recommended a second battery to solve this re-connection problem, I didn't want the additional weight. The real issue is during the reboot SSV loses the bluetooth connection. It eventually reconnects but if the volume is up the re-connection chime is so loud it could make your ears bleed. It really seems as if SSV could fix this with maybe something as simple as a software update that automatically reconnects the bluetooth without the chime and automatically starts the music. May not be that easy.

My fix for now is to connect an Iphone directly to the system. Now when the system reboots it only takes about 5 seconds to begin playing after startup. No ear splitting chime, no pressing play. The only problem with this solution is there is not enough room to use a convertor from 30 pin (the connection in the SSV system) to the current Fire Wire Iphone connection. I had to revive an old Iphone and upload my music to it.
