Squawk in the rear end

I have a bad squawking noise in the rear end of my new to me 2010 S. I have greased the heck out of it and it still squawks! It did go away for awhile when we went through some water, but came back when it dried out. Thinking about taking the wheel off tomorrow and greasing the upper and lower outer control arm bushings. Any another ideas?

Its the upper fox shock bushings. Just did mine and quite as a church mouse now... Pull your shocks off, pull out the 2 bushings on each side, spray some wd-40 and work the inner swivel ball around and clean the rust out real good. Next clean the o-rings and stuff some marine grease inside, place your bushings back in. Re-mount your shocks and your good to go. 15 minute job...

On the rear shocks to remove the heim (previously called the swivel ball), remove the side bushings and the accompanying o-rings. On each side of the heim there is a tiny spring clip (looks like a really small Slinky). I use a small pick (like a dental pick) to get the end out of the groove in the shock, then work the rest of it out. Try not to mangle it if you are going back with the stock bushings. These clips are on the rear shocks only. I installed Delrin bushings front and rear with some GDL (silicone based garage door lube) and haven't had a noise since. IMPORTANT! Torque the shock bolts to proper spec or you could compress the bushings and they'll start squeeking right away.

Proper torgue specs for upper and lower, front and rear bolts is 27-33 ft/lbs

I had done alot of reading here before I got my new RZR....I disassembled and greased the Fox shock bushings/joints (they were dry from the factory like everyone says) before I ever hit the trails. So I was a little surprised when the rear end started getting noisy after (maybe) 100 miles....and I was greasing everything. I disconnected the sway bar and the noise stopped (even though I had greased the mounts via the nipples). I pulled the mounts off and the grease (through the nipple) was not reaching 3/4 of the surface under the mount. Cleaned and greased the bar/mount and it's been good ever since....but I expect this will be part of normal maintenance....because that is one hell of an annoying noise. Chris.

Just take the thing off. You'll most likely love the ride and the way it handles. If you're not sure, simply disconnect one end and try it. Without the bar each wheel acts independently instead of being connected to the other side. This means that all the wheels stay planted. Give it a try.

Well, I finally found the squawking noise! I did take both wheels off and greased the upper and lower outer control arm bushings. They were super dry, and I thought I had fixed the problem, but no. It still squawked!!! So then I took the the shocks off and checked them. Still squawked! Finally loosened the bolts on the inner control arm bushings and found the noisy one and packed it with grease. It had a grease zerk on it, and I had greased it but it was dry.

Really glad that I did check the upper and lower outer control arm bushings, as there is not grease zerk on them and they were really dry. Thinking this could have caused major problems down the line.
