Hey wondering if anyone has tried these?

They are a ski you put on front tires and you run tracks on the rear. It says that you can go a lot faster vs having 4 tracks, which I am sure, a lot less resistance in the snow and a lot less power in 2wd vs 4wd. Just wondering how they work? Seems like the same principle on a snowmobile wide tracks on a mountain sled to float. I am contemplating selling my snowmobile because I hardly ride it but my 800s would not be as fun with 4 tracks but if these you were still able to go like 40-50mph that would be awesome!!! Plus only having to remove 2 tracks and the skis which are super easy would be nice when we don't have a lot of snow.

I don't have experience with that setup, but I would be very concerned about getting stuck with the ski set up. Going uphill the rear tracks would dig deep. If you need to back up they won't provide as much float. All the YouTube videos show groomed trails and not very deep off the trail.

I would get tracks on all 4 corners. Getting stuck in the cold is no fun.

I am just curious if anyone has any real life experience with these? I feel like climbing would be terrible with these like you mentioned back would dig down and would have no front pull. I live in ND and it is 99% flat where I live minus ditches so that is not a huge concern.

And I know they are gear reduced but I feel like I am wondering if since you are only running 2 you don't need as much gear reduction. Not sure, just would be interested to hear what people thought if they had them and how they worked, kind of a neat idea definately looks kind of goofy though. And make sure not to accidentally put in 4wd that would be bad haha.

The trails in my area they are allowed. Our trails consist of signs going in a ditch and occassionally they groom them. I have rode snowmobile my entire life but recently we have had hardly any snow and the snow always gets rock hard. Well my rzr just busts through the crust and gets high centered.

And as far as the gear reduction I don't necessarilly think you would need the same. Not even close. I ride in deep snow all the time in my RZR. My little 800 can spin the tires to beat heck in 2wd hi no problem in the deep stuff, if I switch to 4wd, in the same depth snow I have to go to 4wd lo and sometimes even then have a hard time spinning them to the rev limiter. I have rode the RZR 2 yrs in heavy snow and feel like if there is that big of a difference between spinning 2 tires vs 4 spinning 2 tracks vs 4 would be a huge difference not to mention the rolling resistance of tracks is far greater than skis.

I feel like that is my opinion based on my driving experience I could be totally off, but I know for a fact skis push easier through snow than tracks, and I know for a fact in the exact same snow my machine has no problem spinning the tires in 2wd compared to struggling in 4wd.

I can see that the biggest draw back would be climbing hills digging down in the back, another would be reverse. I know a lot of sleds that have reverse the back of the ski is flipped up so they don't dig down, it does not look like that on these. I could be off on the top speed thing but I feel like no matter what you would have a lot more power and use a lot less fuel because skis have much less resistance through the snow. Now going through as much I am still thinking 4 tracks would go through more just for the front end pulling up on snow. I really was just curious about these because it was something new and thought it was neat. Now I feel like if the price was 1/2 of what a set of 4 tracks was it might be worth it for certain situations but after looking at the price and being around 3500 which is about 1000 less than 4 tracks I think it would hard to pass up on 4 tracks.

I really wish the 800s would go like 40-50mph with tracks I would not hesitate on buying a set and selling my sled. I just can't be limited to like 35mph top speed that is a bit slow for my riding. I tend to travel 10-15 miles to my riding spots and having to go 35 mph to get there takes a lot of time vs 40-50mph.

I'm going to get a set this winter I think. I don't have enough room in my garage for a sled and atv's. so now I can justve the room. Its one less thing to do your yearly maintenance on ad less upkeep than two vehicles. I'm only going to my cabin in the winter and don't need to be able to do super fast speeds, so the slower speeds are cool with me. the skis are pretty fat compared to snowmobiles, so maybe they will float just as good. thy are pricey, but still cheaper than a new snowmobile. I cant pass up half the maintenance and space savings too.
