Slow rzr?

My 12 rzr s has about 2400 miles on it. For some reason it feels kind of sluggish to me these days, bottom end is pretty good, but it feels like it takes forever to get from 45 up to 60 ish. Anyone have ideas on whats going on? I am pretty good about changing my airfilter and keeping it clean. I have a outerwears prefilter over the stock paper filter, snorkels, and just put on a new belt. It just seems slow on the top end. Suggestions?

When I referred to your clutches, I was alluding to the fact that the OEM clutches, as delivered, are not optimized; in fact, far from it! That's why there is so much discussion about clutch-kits on the Forum. To summarize, let me say this: there is no better Performance-Improvement that you can make to your RZR, without resorting to Big-Bore kits and/or Boosting, than a good after-market clutch-kit. I, and several other Forum members, have installed the custom clutch-kit from SLP (Starting Line Products) and we couldn't believe the difference! It turns your RZR into a whole different machine, performance-wise. As an example, watch this video:

These are two otherwise stock, same-model RZR's, with one having the factory clutch, and the other having the SLP custom clutch-kit. Proper clutching does make a difference!

At 2400 miles, I think that your clutches are definitely due for some TLC; the springs and components DO wear over time. You don't say if you're running a fairly new belt, but you might also want to look at that. But again, an aftermarket clutch will do more to restore the vigor to your otherwise-stock RZR than any other change you could make. Think of it as Viagra for your RZR.......LOL. My two-bits............

Thanks BarRZR, I do have a brand new belt on. Does it seem odd that my springs would be sacked out in 2400 miles?
Given the otherwise-proven inferior quality of Polaris springs, I would say NO! As a perfect example, look at their crappy suspension-springs; mine were badly sacked-out at 200 miles! In addition to their poor-quality, the clutch-springs have to run in a much higher-heat environment, which shortens their life significantly, not to mention that they are required to constantly and repeatedly go full-cycle (full-compression to full-extension) countless times during a full-day's ride. It's rather a wonder that they last as long as they do! Just my two-bits.........

Thanks for this thread. Reminded me to check my throttle cable. I definitely had too much slack (100 hrs). You could push the gas and see it NOT pull the cable for the first inch of travel. I didn't like this as it tends to cause me lurching, and perhaps limits my top end.

Anyway, I checked the manual, pg 96, and it gave clear instructions for how to adjust. I tracked down the cable, but on my 2011 RZR S, the adjustments were behind some big vent tubes, which were a pain in the butt to move far enough out the way. Anybody know an easier way, please share!

I backed out the adjuster to the limit and it was much better. Still had a little slack, so next time I either need to shorten the other end or get a new cable.

Thanks.

I raced a buddy in a S model this weekend, bottom end we were dead even, he would finally pull away slowly on the top, but not much, and thats with my new tires which are supposedly much heavier than his almost bald stock xct 900's.

I cleaned my spark arrestor, it definately had some grime on it, but not too bad. going to get a service kit for my diffs/tranny/and spark plugs tonight. Hopefully this weekend will be a different story. And a Dalton clutch kit is in my near future.
