2016 XP1K , with Walker Evans. Roughly around 3k miles. I'm just curious on when I should go through these ?
On snowmobiles, I generally have my shocks gone through every 2500 miles.

Just rebuilt 15 xp1k front Walker Evan's shocks with 3600 miles on them. Found out by surprise the charge was mixed with the oil when I let minimal pressure out of reservoir, removed Schrader valve then removed the reservoir snap ring and cap... pow! IFP and end cap went flying. Second shock
didn't have this issue.

Same here... although i went nearly 6000 miles on my Walker Evans. Removed shrader on driver's side rear and normal hiss and spitting some oil, but couldn't move either cap to remove inner ring. Put reservoir in the press, removed clip and relieved the pressure on the jack and BOOM! shock oil everywhere.

Both rears the nitrogen mixed with the oil. Lesson learned, I won't go as long on rebuilds next time.

On my xp1000 I had a front shock start seeping this spring at 2400mi. Bought a kit for both fronts from Rocky Mountain ATV ($70 a piece) and some shock oil (3wt Maxima). Did the rebuild and things have been fine except the other day I see a rear is seeping slightly. As I read on here, I realize I probably should've put 10wt in the front and Maxima may not have been a good choice either. Also, the kits for the rear were $20 a piece through Walker Evans vs $70. Interestingly, my shocks never lost much pressure before rebuild. I see that @rsarffs is using Polaris fluid. I've been tempted to go with the Amsoil 10wt shock fluid. As I shop, I also wonder if there is a difference between shock fluid and fork fluid. As far as interval, my fronts lasted until 2400mi and the rears until 3100mi. I'm interested in what others are using for shock fluid both brand and weight.

@Flingit1200s
we have a resident oil expert @dafish. ask him about the differences in shock oil

Compression and rebound are back! From soft to hard setting the front shocks are like new again. No more squishy aerated pogo stick shocks. These are the tools from Rocky Mountain Atv and got Schmidty Racing Suspensions nitrogen fill gauge and shock seals. Bottom tools I already had but welded the allen to a small socket for IFP bleed screw.

I hear ya. I had the shraders completely removed, but the IFP was jammed against the reservoir cap. On the 2nd rear shock I wrapped a towel around the shock in the press.

Side Point: the service manual is completely wrong on Walker Evans for a 2018-2020 XPT. They mention a threaded dust cap, but mine were press fit with an internal clip on the seal head.
