A seat lowering base might give you the clearance you need.

I'm trying to avoid going that route if possible.

 

Gotcha. Not sure about modifying the stock seat bases, although it definitely wouldn't make them any stronger, and they're already known for being weak as is.

 

I remember seeing a video a couple years ago about how to lower the stock plastic seat bases but I have no idea where it was from. If you search hard enough you may find it.

the !K seats can be modded to fit the 900 base.

 

the plastic trim has to be cut off the 900 base to make room for the new square tubing. Also the inside of each seat frame has to be cut on an angle as shown hope this helps.

 

@64tbolt could you tell a difference in seat height vs the 900 seats?

as for the comment being subpar, $100 for seats already modified was a deal for one on a fixed income. Aftermarket suspension seats are not within my reach.

 

Modifying the 900 bases for the 1k seats put them about an inch or so higher. Unfortunately the only way to bring them down is with seat lowering bases. That has been my experience anyway.

 

Seems like an excessive amount of work on a subpar setup as compared to a $70 fix that not only works but allows for actual downtravel on a suspension seat. lol

 

I had the same dilemma as the OP and ended up going with the lowering bases, they actually lower the seats as well as change the back rest angle rearward (recline) for a better seating position imo.
