I need some help with figuring out what wheel offset to go with on my sand tires. I read the shock therapy thread about adding offset to the front creating bump stear ect. I was told the sand is different than the desert.

I'm looking at dwt sectors. 14x7 4+4 front and 14x8 5x5 rear. I was told staggered offset was best. Stock suspension xpt4. 30x13 skats front and rear. Thank you for your help.

If you're running 30x13 skats you want to run...

14x8 Fronts
14x10 Rears

Both with 0 offset. This is something that's going to allow the tire to sit wide and create a float up on top of the sand. I don't do DWT but if you're looking for Methods, or Fuels we can have them shipped to you at killer deals right now. PM me if interested.

You should speak to Tim at Extreme before you buy. I run 30x13 Scats and Tim told me 14x7, 14x8. That's what I rub, and it worked out perfect

A 4+4 is a 14x8 and a 5+5 is a 14x10.

Tim at Xtreme Tire does generally recommend 7 or 8" wide wheels but he seems to like to set people up for the drags and the hill. When I originally talked to him he tried to set me up with 8 or 9 paddle 30/11s. I don't care about being fast at the hill or the drags and after some prying I did get him to agree that the 10 paddle 30/13s would be a better tire for me seeing as my main concern was the soft dunes out by China wall where most duners don't seem to like to go. All that to say, with a 13" wide tire, I would definitely put them on 10" wide wheels because it gives you a bigger foot print and helps with flotation. The 8"/10" setup also wider and give you more stability. It really depends on what you are trying to achieve.

I ordered the tires from Tim at extreme. They recommended the 14x7 and 14x8. I explained that I don't shoot the hill, we are duners. I've see a lot of post running the wider wheels for more lateral support and a wider footprint. I don't need to be the fastest out there, I just want to aggressively dune.

I run the 30x13 (front and rear) Skats on a set of 14x10 and 14x8 DWT Ultimate Beadlocks on my XP 1000. This is the PERFECT set up I've found for my XP. Your XPT would do great with a 14x10 / 14x8 set up. Both the width of the tires on the rims and the width of your machine will give you GREAT flotation and stability. Just my 2 cents.

Can anyone tell me what the new width of the XPT is with the DWT wheels referenced above? I see that a common setup is 14x7 and 14x8 or 14x8 and 14x10 - how wide does this set the edge of the tires with these setups? Thanks

Thanks! If stock is 64" wide what is the new width with these wheels? Need to make sure it fits in the trailer...

You should be pushing 70”-72” wide in the rear and 68”-70” in the front.

I own a 2019 XPT4-LE that I plan to keep engine stock with the exception of a Dalton clutch Kit I already installed to support 32” Tensor Regulator Tires for desert, Moab, and forest trails in Idaho that we ride

We live in Idaho and dune primarily at St A. I will also visit Glamis annually I have a sand car that I take all the time that provides plenty of adrenaline for all. Now I’m taking the XPT4 as well. I plan to cruise the dunes and I’m not focused on going as fast as I can in a drag or straight up a hill. My wife and I take it cruising and enjoy all the dunes with our two blue heeler dogs. Good performance, lightweight set-up, acceleration, good float, and stability are what I’m interested in. And if I choose to be more aggressive then I still have the have the right set-up. I’m confident that non-bead lock wheels will suit me fine.

I think I’ve now read most RZR posts back to 2016 on sand tires and realize there many different views and likes. STU and Skat seem to dominate for an XPT4. I know they are both premium tires and cost more than most. I would like to hear from other experienced XPT4 users if I should tweak my decision before I pull the trigger this week.

Here is what I’m planning:

Rear: Skat 30x13x14 10 paddle on DWT Ultimate Sport 14x10, 5+5 Matte Black Wheel (non bead-lock)

Front: Skat 30x13x14 Rough Buff on DWT Ultimate Sport 14x8, 4+4 Matte Black Wheel (non bead-lock)

Some Questions for Feedback

1. Any reason to rethink 9 vs. 10 paddles?
2. What are the primary reasons to go with rear staggered paddles? Is it preference?
3. Any reason to rethink 11” wide vs. 13” wide fronts?
4. What distributers in CA, AZ or other states should look to for a good deal? Rocky only sells 11” wide, not 13”. I’ve read about Xtreme in AZ. Any other suggestions? I don’t mind getting tires and wheels separately or shipped to me mounted.

1. I like 10 paddles on the turbo.
2. I believe the staggered helps corner and turn better, faster. I've never ran staggered though.
3. I think 11" is plenty in the sand for the front. 13 is just adding weight and I don't think the additional float it will provide is truly needed.
4. Definitely talk to Xtreme they know their stuff and can customize to you. However, you probably won't beat RMATV pricing especially when you factor in wheels and mounting as well.

I thought I would update my decision. I obvious didn't wait as I thought I might. I called Tim today at Xtreme and I'll I can say is that he understands the basics physics of how paddle tires behave in the sand. After nearly a 40 minute chat (not all about sand tires) he helped educate me to the point that I knew what configuration I wanted based on where I dune, how I dune, and what is important to me. My years of duning experience recognized and agreed with what Tim shared. Of course for everyone this will be different, thus different solutions.

I'll briefly pass along a few things I learned and try to not confuse or misrepresent what Tim shared.

1) Stagger - holds a little better in the corner, creates a “variable” paddle at higher speed (65-70 percent of each paddle engaged), They “bite” nicely off the start, and theoretically more top end speed (if your concerned) due to less drag
2) Do not need the bead lock with the Goodyear Titan Tire carcass.
3) Wheel Size: 7” and 8” front/rear: Better Ride Quality – think of how a round bottom boat cuts through chop better. 8” front and 10” rear: rougher ride, flatter profile, like a rolling pin pushing sand or flat bottom boat, more resistance and rougher on the chop
c) Regardless of wheel pick, the 13" wide tires are up on sand floating at speeds over 10-12 mph. So why not go with less resistance if you plan to go faster than say 15 mph.
d) Unless going really slow(in super soft sand, better to go with 7 and/or 8” wheels).

As for RMATV pricing, Xtreme beats them on price and configuration. I'll explain

1) RMATV does not (on their website at least) offer the 13" wide 30" tire. Only 11".
2) The 30x11x14 10 paddle they offer I don't think is staggered (they don't have that as an option on the website)
3) I wanted the lightest DWT Sport Wheel (non bead lock). They don't offer a 7" wide for the front. Only 8 and 10
4) I did not confirm this as absolute, but I'm under the impression that Xtreme Inc. has Skat build their tires on their Xtreme Carcass (aka Warlock ). The tire is manufactured by Goodyear and modified by Skat
5) Pricing for the package (mounted) from Xtreme was $1825+$70 to ship to me in Idaho. That compares to RMATV at $1846.60. You do the math, but also consider the limitation on tire width, stagger, wheel size, and carcass origination.
6) So if you pick up locally you actually save money.
7) Given the technical guidance and willingness to spend time to help you, it makes no sense to go to RMATV IMO. For the service I got, I got a DEAL!

I placed the order with Kelly today and she too was amazing and super detailed on getting the order placed and shipping coordinated. What a breeze.

If you want Skat Trak tires and appreciate knowledge and service, look no further! I had a an amazing customer experience!
