We've been riding Moab ut every year since 2006. We have a group ride there every year. I was wondering if Sand Hollow has enough trails, crawling, and sand for us to spend at least a week there? If so what would be the best time of the year to be there?
Thanks

Sand Hollow is an amazing place with some great trails. A great mix of Dunes, Rock Crawling, and some higher speed stuff. If you plan to stay within 5-10 miles of Sand Hollow, there’s probably 3-4 days worth of riding if you don’t want to ride the same trails every day. At Sand Hollow, you’re also within machine driving distance of the AZ strip and the trail system up that way so if you’re not afraid of a longer round trip, there is access to some great trails in southern Utah.
As for timing, its hot in that area from May through September. I’m talking regular 100 degree days. It does cool off at night to mid 70’s though.
I’m from the area and my buddies ride there regularly and can give you some pointers if you end up heading out this way.

I'm interested as well. Ran into some folks from AZ in Moab a couple weeks ago and they also mentioned Sand Hollow. They said March/April or October are the best times to go since it will be to hot in the summer.

They said if I liked Moab rock crawling in my TRE, I would also enjoy Sand Hollow.

What's a good location to use to park & camp for a length of time? I don't need a camp ground, hook-ups, or any of the comforts of civilization. I can dry camp for as long as needed. The more remote, the better.

If you have a couple GPS coord's for remote camping, that would be great!!

I might just PM you in the fall this year to head out.

Thanks Joe, we'll be in Moab later this month so Sand Hollow would probably be for next years ride. We do have October open this fall since we moved our Arkansas ride to September. Lots of high mountain passes between Kansas and Utah so weather is a factor.

Joe me a and a few friends just booked a weekend in September any advice? non of us have ever been before. None of us have any real rock crawling experience and would like to try some of that out. We do mostly Glamis and or high desert type of riding. Is there a trail rating system out there like for skiing? also any loops / trails we have to do? Appreicate any input.

On route 7 and the River Road exit there are a lot of places that people park and camp. Right out your door is all the trails that you want!

I live 3 miles away and have trails that can take you to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, Mesquite Nevada, Colorado City, and to Pine Valley..

Just depends when your coming as to where you can go!

Beautiful scenery all around.

April is our Moab trip, June is Black Hills(snow and rain washed us out this year), July is Colorado, nothing for August yet, Arkansas for September, nothing yet for fall, and Arizona is January/ February. Haven't been back east for a while but would like to do it again. Been trying to get the group to ride Idaho and West Yellowstone area. I'm gonna age out before I get to all of the places I wanna ride!

Man that’s awesome you really are just off roading around the U.S I bought this thing with the hopes of doing the same thing. I’ve been to the black hill for Sturgis Rally but wow I’d love to take the RZR up there. But I got a question how is Arizona around Christmas time ? And what a awesome place to ride there around that time. I get 2 weeks off. Paid shut down at Christmas an would like to go down that way. Any info would help I’ve never been
