So far I have heard a lot of good things about the UMP system. Has anyone gone with the S&S system instead? My dad put a UMP on his Rzr and it seems like low end power and take off is a little weaker. I wanted to get some of my fellow forum meber opinions before I make the intake system purchase.

i just installed the UMp on my 2010 rzr ..very easy install..bottom end i couldnt tell any change in performance.. when the rpms get to about 5000 or higher the plastic intake area in between the seats vibrates like crazy...now it seems like it takes longer to go from 50-60 mph on top end.. i cant even hit the limiter anymore..6100 rpms is fast as it will go with the pedal on the floor..am i not getting enough air on top end or too much at higher rpms...also it is a bit louder now with the ump installed since the opening has to be cut out to accomodate the larger rubber tube... piece of mind with not having dirt ingested into the engine is a better trade off than not hitting the limiter anymore...

top speed before the ump was 62 mph..not its about 58-59 on gps..

anybody have any ideas?? also how to prevent the plastic inlet before the air goes to the intake and cvt intake from vibrating so violently...

I have had no problems with my UMP after 800+ miles.
You might want to check the T-BAP sensor, that's the only thing that you had to re-locate that has any type of relationship to the ECU. The ECU receives info from the T-BAP to regulate RPM, fuel/air mix etc.
A bad connection or some dirt or oil on the sensor may cause problems.

Look somewhere else for the cause of your performance issues. That size UMP canister & filter is used on 300HP sand rails so no way it's restricting flow on a 50-something Rzr.

On that intake hood vibration cut a little wood shim so it holds the hood front away from the back. Force it in there--that slot is the main restriction once the UMP is installed. The "Grumpy Mod" is the better solution but a shim will help a lot.

Did you race/run them against each other prior to the UMP? Both have the same tires and air pressure? There's been some pretty big separations in HP numbers between RZR's on the dyno (stock). I find it hard to believe that the UMP would be a performance killer.

Yeah its the weirdest thing. We even raced my dads against my sisters bone stock rzr. They are both 2010 razor S same air pressure and everything. prior to the install they were almost dead even and the only difference was weight of passengers. After the install i drove my sisters ride and smoked him same passenger weight same everything except my sisters intake is stock. Could he have made a mistake on the install or something? I wasnt around when he did it.

Yeah let me know. Im running a foam filter with the stock setup and im cleaning the s%@t out of my filter after every ride so there is no dirt ingestion. The S&S seems like it would get more flow but offer less protection where the UMP offers superior protection against dirt ingestion but after my dads experience im still up in the air with my decision.

Thinking of replacing my S&S on our 09 with an UMP. Don't like the noise next to our ears. The UMP on our 08 has been flawless.
