I have a General. Looking for pros and cons of the Super ATV Flip UP windshield. Anyone have it?
I have it on my machine and like it for reducing dust and eliminating heat. The latch is hard to pop open. I also sell them if you want one.

Im looking for the "best" option out there too. Just like anything else, it appears the "best" recommendation that im seeing here is also the most expensive! I have the 1000s and it looks like around $510 for the Ryfab. Anyone have any better pricing on Ryfab? Another option is Polaris OEM @ $399! What is better the Ryfab or Polaris?

I live in Michigan and Im looking for an option similar to the Ryfab or Polaris due to the unpredictable weather conditions here. I can take off on a ride in the morning and it might be 35 degrees and within hours it might be 90!

Having the fold down or open is a MUST because there have been times that I got so hot I almost ripped my windshield off and thrown it in woods to later go pick it up, and I have removed 1/2 windshield in middle of a ride and strapped it down in the back -- So a fold down, or No window at all is the way Im leaning.

I can handle the cold and rain much better than excessive heat. I wish there was a total stow away option, either all on (rain and cold) or all open (airflow!)

Just got mine just a couple days ago. I might install it this weekend but we got that 60* day coming Tuesday so might do it then. I will let you know what I think.

I did the DIY plexi/acrylic type window for a Rocks and Valleys trip a month ago. I found out a couple things, first thing I found out is I love a windshield it's awesome.

2nd thing I found out is these plastic windows are a safety hazard. Why I say safety hazard, is because they do get mud and dust on them. Then at the end of the day when the sun is low and in your eyes you cannot see through the windshield. The solution would be to wipe it off, but you can't because your gonna scratch the hell out of it. I hit a tree at Rocks and Valleys because of this, slightly because I'm dumb, but I'm 95% blaming the windshield!

So, definitely get a glass windshield if your a northeast trail rider. And like you said it gets hot, so you probably want one that flips up/down or removable. Flip up/down seems perfect, but you gotta figure any windshield that flips up/down is going to be a rattling piece of shit. What do you do? Buy the most expensive one, even though its twice as much as you want to spend and hope it's as good as everyone says.

Its also better then buying a windshield, end up not liking it, then buying another one a yr or 2 later, and in the end spending $510 on sub par windshields.

Like I said I will let ya know my initial (not trail proven) opinion in the next couple days.

I've used the kolpin windshield on my 800S and my 1000S . I really like it. Full windshield when you want it, removable without tools, and the half keeps the dust out.

trick440, I'm assuming you got the Ryfab? I know exactally what your saying about the rattling, noisy, howling acrylic windows because that is the pain in the ass one I have now (1/2 windshield) and it is mostly useless and slides up and down the frame tubing, scratching it all over hell.. all this bs because I was trying to compromise on full windshield vs no windshield for reasons noted in post.

Let me know how yours works out, and where did you get it at? Thanks

I ended up going with sxswindshield.com. Best price over compared ryfab. Fred the owner was awesome to deal with. Nothing against the ryfab, I just didn't like the ryfab fold down design. To each his own. If I want to take it off, the sxswidshield only takes a couple of minutes. Glad I went that direction. I was going to do the super atv flip up, but glad I went with glass so it doesn't scratch.

During the cold weather season, I operate with a full laminated glass windshield, frame is 3/4" pvc conduit pipe with the glass cut by the local glass shop. I cut a slot in the pipe, insert the glass, and pump in silicon glue thru holes drilled in the pipe. It's quick disconnect, so as the weather warms up I remove this windshield and install a half plexiglass windshield. Dust obscuration is not a problem with this plexiglass because it's low enough to see the road over the top of it. 2017 XP1K4.

Refab does not rattle. I had the same worries as you but have been super pleased with mine.

You can’t go wrong with Ryfab. A little expensive but worth it. I thought a vendor had them for 450 right now.

Installed most the the Ryfab windshield today. It went slower then I hoped due to the roof needing to be removed, wiring needed to be removed that ran though the rollcage frame and some alignment issues.

The alignment issue wasn't major, but frustrating. I think the weld on the cage was interfering with the lower bracket mount and making the window slightly tilted. Very slightly tilted, like 1/8" - 1/4", I re adjusted 3 times with little or no improvement. It's so slight no one would notice. Its also not anything negative about Ryfab, just a dumb issue I had, windshield folds up and down with no problems.

Construction seems great, it also looks pretty cool.

One thing I noticed is the XP1K windshield sits over the dash panel. The lower panel on Ryfab opens and allows room to remove that dash panel. I would guess if you have a windshield without this feature you could not remove the dash panel without removing your windshield.

I still have to install the hood support brackets and give it a test run. B+ so far.

I have sold a lot of Ryfab windshields and they are the most usable of any I have because of the vent and folding down feature. All of Ryfab's products are here including windshields:
