Hello guys. Been reading around the forum for the fast few months but just decided to join. I've been looking at getting a sidexside for a while now. I've been looking at rzr's in the sub $8,000 range or so. I finally found one I think I want but I stumbled on the CF Moto zforce machines and went and looked at some this weekend and really like them. The few 2016 models that are left around here are going for around $11,200 OTD. But I did stumble on a demo model one dealer had. It's a 2016 Z800EX EPS. I looked at it for a while before I could even tell it was used. Had some dirt on it and grease around the a arms. One fender flare had a small scratch on it but other than that It looked new. Has 400 miles on it. Manager said he'd sell it for $9,999 plus $150 DOC fee. Still comes with the 1 year warranty and he said he'd clean it up like new and change all the fluids. Now I'm going back and forth again between that and a used rzr. The one I'm really interested in is a 2010 800S. Has 3200 miles on it. New motor with around 500 on it. He said he had the old motor turbo'ed and I guess blew it up. It has after market arms, shocks, roll cage. Good tires. Pretty clean. When He put the new motor in he put an intake and programmer on it. Lowest he says he'll take is 6500. I've bought a lot of trucks and toys and such so I know something built like that has more than likely been used hard. But I figured for the price, with the new motor in it just take off the programmer and have fun with it. Forgive my ignorance but I have no experience with sxs's. I'm sure the CF Moto will be a nice machine from the reading I've done the past week. But I also like the rzr price and I like the way it's built, though it does lack a lot of things the z800 comes with. What are some things to look for when looking at the used machines? Should I just avoid anything modded all together? And if there's anyone that has had one of the older rzr's and a cf moto, how do they compare? Sorry for the novel, just new to these and want to spend my money right. Thanks, Kyle.

I have a rzr 900 trail and my dad has the cf 800 zforce trail. It is a nice machine built right and much cheaper to work on. His non power steering is controlled with one finger and the ride is nice with piggy back shocks. I love my bike but I wouldn't be unhappy with his. If I was looking at an rzr 800 or cf 800 I would take the cf hands down.

Well I had decided on the rzr today but after asking some questions the guy informed me it is shifting hard into neutral. When you come to a stop it takes a second for the belt to disengage. He says he thinks something is dirty on the spiders (not sure what that means exactly). What could this issue be? Big issue or not much to be worried about? I don't want to buy it and have to be rebuilding clutches right off the bat.

I am assuming the reason your interested in this RZR is because of money and the fact that it is an attractive price, otherwise I am not sure why you would want what is obviously an abused or at least an extremely used bike. I certainly understand and respect having the proper prospective of what is ultimately a toy in our household finances. It is why I have a plain 900 trail and not a bigger better machine. That said you are better off continuing to wait than buy something that is going to be a money pit. Frankly the CF Moto seams like a nice machine if you have a good distributor nearby that can work on it and get parts in a resonable amount of time. If not keep waiting until you find the right deal. More often than not by just taking a close look you can see if a machine has been abused or not. I hope things work out for you with whatever you decide.

No it's definitely the price. But I figured it had low enough miles it might be worth a try but I do think it might just be an issue for me. I have 4 CF Moto dealers within 2-3 hours away. The closest one about an hour or so. They all seem to have bad reviews on the service side of things though. Which I don't really care about because I do my own work on things. So anything short of a new motor I probably wouldn't take it in anyways.

CF moto are junk. If you really look close, they are not put together very well. Dealers love to push them because they have a 40% mark up.

Find a good used rzr. I would strongly recommend the 900 over the 570, and the "S" model over the 50".

Another low cost option and a great value in my opinion is the Arctic Cat Trail or Sport.

Was it hard to say CF Moto aren't put together well when we all drive rzrs lol.

Anyways, my old man has had a Cfmoto 800 for a couple years now. It hasn't had an issue, faster and more power then a rzr800. Does it have comfortable seats.. no. Does it handle as good as a rzr.. no. Suspension good as a rzr.. no. Brand new with the winch, windshield, roof was under $10k.

I was trying to talk him into a used 900s. Definitely would have been a much better route.(comfort, power wise)

My best friend has a CFmoto non PS Z800 and it has been solid a few minor issues but nothing that left him stranded. It has a good ride and good clutches. I would personally stay away from the Rzr you are looking at and have no issue buying the CF. I have a 14 800 Rzr and power wise in 400 feet we were nose to nose. If you have a decent dealer I wouldn't hesitate to get the CF for that price.

I wouldn't say they're junk. I haven't read anywhere on the forums where someone who has actually owned one had anything bad to say about it. Just a few little things that seem to be getting better with the newer models. I looked at quite a few 2016 and 2017 models and they all looked like very good machines. They drive nice but that was just driving around some parking lots so can't say much. I liked the seats personally. I like them I was just looking at the older rzrs to save some money. I only want it for hunting and driving around the mountains. And I'm only looking at the rzr s or cf moto ex. I'm not interested in the trail models.

I looked at the cfmoto last year for my wife it has a lot of options but they are cheap bumpers cheap winch cheap windshield cheap reservoir shocks it is a decent machine but does nothing as good as the rzr my friend has the 800 and hasn't had any real issues,I just picked up a 17 rzr 900s for 12,300$ and it will destroy his 800 on the trails

Here,i will say it too.I think CF moto are JUNK!
I believe if you just want to ride around in your back yard they might be ok,but if you are going on the trails with us,they are junk.
My neighbor has a 2016 and he is sick.Dealer had it for 2 weeks just for its 1st oil change.Said had to wait for the factory oil filter get here from China because the dealers were out of them.

Junk cheap FOUR ply tires you could poke a screwdriver thru.Flats everytime he goes down the hill with us.

2 weeks ago,he blinked his lights so we went back and it SHOWED to be running red hot AND some light flashing. We googled it and said something about oil pressure. He let it cool down and stopped 3 times to get back to our shops only 1/2 mile away up the hill.
We start checking and the piece of shit was OUT of oil.One small drop on the stick,10hrs on oil change,NOT one drop on the machine or his shop floor where he parks it.
He's STILL WAITING on anykind of answer WTF is wrong with it.
He went and looked at a rzr and is going to TRY and unload it one of these days when they get it to hold oil again.

I looked at all the suspension, steering box, etc. there is NOWAY I would give 5K for one even if i had room for a boxcar full of 'em.

That's my take,CHEAPO China Junk.

I think if it weren't for the group i ride with,we ride the billy goat trails so 50" wide is what we have, I'd probably own cfmoto.
If you've done any digging around on the cfmoto forum, they have a 800/800EX section and you can read all you want. There is a couple cf dealers on there that reply once in awhile. The '16 models have just about fixed all the issues the older ones have had, crappy bushings, updated shocks and it looks like the aftermarket is coming up with stuff slowly but surely. I think 26's on 14 inch rims is an issue where there is just not enough distance between the ground and the rim, all too often you'll see someone withe a sidewall injury that was a pinch type injury from the rim.....go with 27 or 28 and the problems are gone. I do wish for their sake that someone would come up with some kind of mod to use-convert to a paper element style air filter, so the engine doesn't suck in as much dust. And seal up-insulate the engine bay to keep the engine noise down, the polaris 800's are further back.
You may also consider the 900 trail EPS, they ride smoother and have more comfy seats, better charging system, engine braking.

I don't know anything about the cf moto just because there isn't a big market share where I live. That alone tells me something.

With that... If you were considering an almost new cf moto for around 10k...

You would be way better off with this machine new.

2017 RZR 570 SxS - White | Polaris

Due to the weight to power ratio its basically an 800, but new.

I really like my 800, a lot of family and friends own the 800 engine in either the ranger or the rzr and that's why I decided to get an 800. Plus like you, it was cheap.

I think you honestly need to decide on a budget first and then decide on a machine. If you were willing to swing 10k on a machine... I would get a used 900XP in good shape with low miles, hands down.

If you couldn't find that a decent 900XP for around $9500 then I would look at a brand new 570 rzr Sport.

If your seriously only considering $8000 or less, I wouldn't hesitate to buy a used 800 Sport. But it would have to have 2000 miles or less in really good shape with addons.

$2000 is easy to spend on these machines... $500 in doors, $200-300 in a roof, $500 in power steering, $300-400 in bushings, fluids, air filters, wheel bearings, tie rod ends etc. Anything used with some miles is going to need all of those maintenance items done.

Make sure you consider those items when looking at used machines and if you decide to go new, you may have to buy those things down the road which will add to the cost.

Good luck either way! I was in your same boat not too long ago and decided $7000 was my top dollar for a used machine because I only use it for hunting and occasional trail riding.

If you do decide on a cf moto, make sure you ask the dealer if the crankcase ventilation tube has been removed from the AIRBOX and tied up high on the frame or body somehwere with a small filter on the end of it.
Found out the reason my friends machine was completely out of oil 10hrs after a dealer oil change, the vacuum created inside the aircleaner box was SUCKING the oil out of the engine vent into the airbox then burned thru the exhaust, especially when going up a hill.WOW

DUH

You might want to consider this too when deciding. This is quoted from a post today over on the cfmoto forum. Whoaaaaaa

THIS COMPANY IS HORRIBLE!!!
« on: Today at 08:15:42 pm »
DO NOT BUY THIS SIDE BY SIDE IT WAS THE WORST PURCHASE OF MY LIFE. WE OWNED IT FOR LESS THAN 2 DAYS AND THE THING IS NOT DRIVE ABLE ANYMORE THE WELD ON THE CHASSIS BROKE. CAUSING INJURY TO ME AND THE OTHER PASSENGER. BUT IT WILL TAKE THIS COMPANY 10 WEEKS TO GET A REPLACEMENT PART TO ARIZONA. 10 WEEKS FOR A PART. SO IN THE MEANTIME WE HAVE IT SITING IN THE SHOP AND WE CAN DO NOTHING WITH IT. 10 WEEKS IS RIDICULOUS TO WAIT FOR SHIPPING AND THE COMPANY DOES NOT WANT TO COVER ANYTHING UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE WORST EXPERIENCE WITH A COMPANY I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!!!!

To update, I'm still looking at the CF Moto but seeing if I can't find another rzr I like. Trying to find a 900XP in my price range, which is around 10k. Not wanting to get a trail model but do the 570 rzr's come in 60" this year? As much as I want the 900 the 570 might be something I'd be interested in if they come in more than a trail model now.

4K miles 'can' be getting "up there" BUT,it all depends how well the unit was maintained. If they run without leaking or smoke, for THAT price range,i don't think you could go wrong.15-3K range sounds way low to me but it could depend if they are plain stock,no options.

Mine for example is a 2013 900XP Walker Evans model 88hp,had 140hrs and 1370 mile on it.I got it from a private owner in his mid 50's for 10,200.I drove all the way to WV to get it and i think i stole it for that price, here's why....

It looked like brandnew. But here's the thing that makes the prices vary Soooo much.Mine had a roof, prp doors, full windshield,3 LED light bars, new allballs bearings, tires, and a $1K dollar overhead 4 speaker stereo.
The extra lights alone are $1,000 dollars.

So,what i am saying is,find a price that you are willing to spend first. Then, look mainly for those rides that are near that $$$ and then sort out which one would be the best value for that money.

Go find a couple you can swing, post pics, and i'm sure others too will tell you what they think that machine is worth.

Goodluck, and let me tell you,you get you a 900 rzr and i am willing to bet you will absolutely LOVE IT!
