Had my RZR S on the dyno today..... Modifications are Dragon Fire intake , DF .dual exhaust, clutch mods, and Todd at Hunterworks installed a Dynatek ignition and did a fuel/ air map for me and the dyno work. Bike hit 40 HP...... Modest gains for BIG BUCKS...LOL:rofl3: Todds also building a rhino for me bet it gets close to these numbers. Just a little information for people looking for more power.:rzrs:

What did you baseline at before the mods ? we did about 35 runs on my 09 RZR "s" last thursday and we put down 41 stock 38 with a dragonfire G3 and 37 with a Procom ( untuned Base map) . we are in atlanta so there should not be and Alt diffrence.

What gives how fresh is your motor? we have 2 both of our test mules are stock 09 RZR "S" and we have confirmed on 2 diffrent Dynojet 248's they both put down between 38 and 41 at the wheels. what year is your "S"

Cheers David

I know this to be true. Black Bart and I were there and witnessed it with our own eyes. I removed the spark arrestor from my stock exhaust, and almost got the same results from my FMF slip on. Just a tad bit more low end torque, but not 25 hp, and I doubt no more than 3 at best.

Motors Fresh replaced about 100 miles ago. I'm thinking the combination I choose did not make any HP. Raced a stock RZR S and was neck n neck. Wish I had went with the kit from Holz Racing. Alot of people are asking about exhaust systems so I was letting them know about my results not bragging about them for sure. Maybe a TURBO or WEBER is in the future........Sure will not be DF!!!!!!!!!

Lets face it Polaris would never leave 25 rwhp horse power on the table no one would not yamaha not ford not GM. the only way this would happen is if they did not want it to hurt a higher bracket product. Venders and mfgs post Hp numbers to sell product. I see it every day someone walks into the Dyno expecting to see big hp #'s from there headers cold air intake and a K&N filter and they walk away with there tale between there legs saying I can't believe I just spent a $1000 and lost 6hp EVERYDAY!!!!!

Cheers:scared2:

I think Polaris claim 32 RWHP so I asked him about that and he said in reality they only put out about 28 RWHP for the STD RZR.

They are big claims no doubt but if they are true it will rock. Past experience with these guys in the ATV world for my X Edition Renegade 800 was they rock and they were the ones to get so I took the leap of faith and bought them for the RZR. Not to mention I got the pipe for half price two weeks ago from 2x motorsports, a very helpful bunch of guys.

I can't say how got it really is for the RZR as I have'nt had time to get out there yet but I will know for sure in a couple of weeks.

WOW !!! Glad i'm not the only one that got nailed..... DFR claims there kit gets 10 to 12 hp....Dyno says 40 if stock is 41 I lost a pony. Lesson learned find somebody that is trustworthy and do your homework on there products. Todd @ Hunterworks has been as honest as anybody I've found sofar. GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY!!!!!

My opinion (for what it's worth). If you want to see increases in power on these rzrs, you have two choices, either turbo, or engine work. After either rout, you're going to have to mess with the clutching. Intake, exhaust and fuel control doesn't add up to a hill of beans on these machines.

what can I tell you, I do hear you though.

I did think about the fact that these motors are capable of producing a lot more power than they actually do and I did spend some time thinking about why they put out such a de-tuned motor before I bought my RZR and here is what I came up with.

I wonder if they did it for insurance and liability reasons

If they gave you a more powerful motor stock then they would have to upgrade the brakes, seats belts, cage to name a few. That would all push up the list price if a new RZR and posibly more accidents would happen thus more liability and more bad press, remeber the roll over stuff and Yamaha getting sued.

Soooooooooo I came to the conclusion it was liability issues rather than the engine not being able to reliably handle more punishment and being able to drag that power out without forced induction or other methods.

This is also why I beleive the right;

Pipe
Fuel/air
Metering
and clutching

can make great gains.

Thats said I want a turbo bad and I expect I will drop the hammer on one soon. I would love you to pick up the Boon Docker c2Turbo so I can see just how good they are.

Most companies claim a 3-5 increase in h.p. over a standard RZR with their exhaust. Do you really think Ron Woods has some super secret alien technology that other companies don't? The designs are all similar with comparable #'s. Remember in any internal combustion engine a 10% increase in h.p. by an exhaust system is huge. 10% of 35h.p. is only 3.5hp. I wish just by putting headers on my car I would get 10% more power.

Like I said, I have posted this thread to Ron Woods so I hope they will come on here and defend their claims. Not to defend this one manufacturer but think of this, cut or remove the exhaust from your car and see how much power you loose. This will show you what a difference the right system will make to any engine if it is well designed and aligned with the engine.

If these motors where Detuned then everyone would be putin down 55 at the wheels LOL but no one is with out boost or displacement ( just remember there is no replacement for displacement!!!!)

this is not an argument we have run over 7500 runs on the Dyno in 10 years everything from golf carts to to Lambos from 4hp to 2200hp all the motor are the same there is no free horsepower no majic pill. BUT PEOPLE WILL STILL TRY TO SELL YOU ONE>>>!!!!

I have a new plan I am going to buy an electric supercharger kit of EBAY there only $40 and I can get an extra 25 rwhp YEA BABY BRING IT :rofl3::rofl3::rofl3::rofl3::rm_thumbdown:

I want the MFG and Vendor to come and DEFEND there product I challange them to. we will independently TEST any PIPE fuel controler any bolt on HP adder on our test MULE 09 RZR"S" and report and log the results send us your product for a week we will return it with the results and post it. good bad or ulgy.

Cheers

You can use my 08 standard rzr for testing purposes. I added the FMF full system, air filter kit, power comander III, and clutch kit. I'm not any faster than a stock rzr, I've beeen beaten on the drag strip many times by stock machines. I wish everything evereyone was selling did what they claimed, but from my personal experience, you do not get what you pay for. I would of been better off staying stock and spending my money on something else. I am very disappointed in my bolt on crap!

Like someone else stated, the only noticable difference in changing the exhaust is the sound.:rm_thumbdown:

This isn't just about Ron Woods. It's about ALL of the vendors. We want to see what numbers an independent will get. All they want to do is show us THEIR numbers, and hope we are stupid enough to take it; hook, line, and sinker.
David is not asking for free parts. He just wants to test their product on a non bias dyno. Now all we need to know is WHO has the BALLS to stand behind THEIR numbers.

The only place I see any HP gains claims is on that dyno sheet their is no claims of gains listed by any of the individual products, this tells me not to expect any HP increases over the stock parts and to consider them to be after market replacement parts just like going to autzone and buying a replacement water pump or starter....

The dyno sheet shows 44.31 MAX on the hp if you got 40 HP your close to their claims perhaps all you need to do is call them and get some direction you may be using the fuel controller wrong.

http://www.rotax.net/rzr.html

The 22+ or 24+ HP gains shown on the dyno sheet needs some explaining lol

If I spent $1203.00 on that kit and didnt see at least a 22HP gain on the dyno I would be looking for a full refund including shipping cost both ways.

Shame on them making false claims! I thought Ron Woods was a big name and solid product, I know he wont be seeing any of my money.

Here is a guy that claims 7HP gain on the exhaust alone.

You are heading down the road that I traveled. I have the Muzzy, UMP, many different clutch setups but I run the dynatek not the powercommander. After much testing & modifying the UMP I am slightly faster in acceleration then I was stock. I do have a much higher top speed with the 6900 rev limit that I set.
