If you are putting it in a 1/2 ton based truck (1000 lb load limit), you should at least install some rear spring air bags to increase your load limit.

Don't forget that you will also be putting a larger load on your brakes as well, so check to insure that you have lots of brake pad.

You guys really make me laugh. Yes, if it physically fits, you will be fine. Make sure your tailgate straps aren't rusted away. You guys talking about brakes and everything else, are you saying you wouldn't pull a riding lawn mower behind a dakota on a car trailer? That would weigh even more, hell better have a 3/4 ton for that. a 1000 lb machine spread out over the length of the box, properly strapped in will be more then fine.
