Upgraded Seat belts

I considered this a must for safety reasons and also the removal of the stock safety belt mounts allowed me to pass the snorkel vents through the gap left after I removed the belt housing.

This upgrade also came with a bar to thread the belts through to maintain them on the shoulders. My guy is little and so I wanted them kept on his shoulders and safe. With the K&N filter from the vent racing kit installed, this touched the bar slightly. Instead of mounting the bar with slight touching and using the two bolts supplied for either side, instead I tilted the bar slightly and only went one bolt each side. Still solid and I think still sufficient to hold in a crash.

Exhaust

A lot has been discussed about exhausts and horsepower increase. I went with the FactoryUTV . This exhaust definitely gives it extra power and sounds GREAT !!! I did paint the pipe and exhaust with black barbeque high heat paint, left the end aluminum. Could not be happier with how this turned out and sounds.

Shocks Upgraded

Shocks are now on, added a further 1/2" to ground clearance over stock. New wheels and tires added 1.5" and now have 2" over stock setup. Shocks seemed slightly longer than stock shocks.

2" Spacers (Front)

Here are the 2" Spacers that I installed on the front. I also want to point out that for the FRONT hubs you need the correctly milled spacer to fit.

I was expecting more from the vendors picture, but what is provided is still exactly what is needed to switch out the stock filter.

I also want to point out that all modifications and upgrades I have undertaken have required no modifications or drilling/cutting of stock RZR and everything can be returned to stock very easily.

Well that's it for now and I hoped this helps some of you.

No Regearing yet.

WildWoody has the exact same wheels and tires and he says no issues. We have not driven it too much yet, but with the weight of the standard exhaust gone, the new air intake and exhaust, it definitely has a LOT more grunt.

My son is just shy of 50lbs and so I do not even think the wheels make too much difference. I will see how it performs and if needed change front sprocket when I can locate one that will replace stock one with no spacers etc.

Yes it really depends on how much the rider weighs. My daughter is around 60 to 70 lbs so we have no issues with the loss of power.Still more then enough power for her.Even when I drive it I really didnt see that much power loss .More top end for sure.Mnctusa yours looks just like ours except the red instead of the pink.My daughter saw it and said thats cool.I am glad you trusted me when i told you you that you will be glad and happy with the 23 big horns. The big horns are one of if not the best all around tire out there. They even come stock with the big rzrs. And i have the 30 inch itp mud lights on my crew. wore out very fast and cupped out also.By the way i sold my crew so iam now thinking about getting the robbie gordon rzr 4.Have to get on the waiting list i was told.

Hi woody

Yes, you were spot on with the tires and wheels. I had shown my son your pictures and that's all he wanted was those tires and rims. When I was working on it, he said it now looks like Wildwoody's :)

I did not go the 1" on the back though as plenty of clearance and with all the weight on the back axle, do not want to strain it.

One tip I did not mention on these wheels and only realized after I had 3 bolted up was that there are eight nut holes. I did not realize that there are 2 different configurations. 4 for 110 spacing and the other 4 for another. So if anyone mounts these, make sure you tighten down on the 4/110 configuration.

I noticed in your write up about the wheels and tires that you said you used the 2+5 in the front and the 4+3 in the rear. Is that correct? Mine just came in mounted and ready for x mas and was looking at it and am confused. Mnxtcusa said he used the 2+5 in the rear and the 4+3 in the front. It seems like it would look better with the deeper looking wheel in the back. What worked for you guys?? I do have a 2 inch spacer for the front also

Thanks!!

in your pictures it looks like you used the larger adult size seatbelts? Can't tell if they are 4-way, but look to be, do you see any reason to with a 5-way? Does your child slip down at all? I see on another thread on harnesses, someone is offering a smaller Crowe harness which looks to be more geared for little people, any thoughts on this?

My brother and I were thinking about buying a 170 for our nephew, he is 5yrs old. Is it too much machine for him? I really dont want to waste the money on a small 4 wheeler that he will grow out of in a year or 2. Figured the 170 he could ride until he was 11 or 12 years old. He loves riding in my rzr and my bro's rzr so figured why not get him one of his own!!!!

5 is on the young end of the spectrum but if he has experience on a 50 or small atv he will probably be fine. If he can reach the pedals. When my daughter was 5 she couldn't reach the pedals without sitting all the way forward on the seat. Hard for her to steer as well.
Basically, if he can steer it, reach the pedals while seat belted in correctly, and you guys are okay with it, go for it. They come with a governor bolt behind the gas pedal and they are really corked. My son would have to floor it just to get it to move. Start like that and then see how it goes.

Yes mine shuts off every time we go through a water hole. It's a 2012 model.I was told it was the vent lines of off the carb. I crimped them one day while it was running in the driveway and it did not stall. So I don't think that's the issue. Still looking?

The stalling when going through deep water is an electrical issue i believe, as the Pitster does the same thing and i dont have a carb on mine.(efi conversion)
The wiring harness from the ignition switch runs beneath the floor, and there are some electrical splices along the harness.
These get wet and BAM......stalling occurs.
Its a design flaw that needs to be addressed.
Your only option is reroute the harness ABOVE the floor and inside the cab or try to waterproof the harness somehow.
I tried electrical taping the crap outta the splices, but the problem still exists.

ours does that in water, ive tried water proof it, and does little better, but after a few holes splashed or driven thru, it will die, hard to start, or start and idle for 8-10 seconds then die or start and idle-give it gas will kill engine. if you wait like 20-30 minutes, usually starts up and runs fine until next water crossing/splash

Yes def, with the raptor and ltr setup these things actually have "real" suspension! We have small jumps in our field and my daughter hits them pretty hard and the suspension soaks it up just as it should. One of those mods that is just totally worth the effort.
