How many miles total?
Mine had had 250 miles when I brought it in...for the same thing
Losing a quart every 50 miles, no smoke, no oil burning smell, passed leak down, but was a little low on compression check.

I will almost guaranty, you have a piston land failure!(what I had)
Expect a week to get an answer from Polaris (hope your under warranty)
I received a new short block, some got whole new motors:)..others got a rebuild :rm_thumbdown:
I was down about month..

Polaris hinted improper break in (which is not true)
New break in instructions were giving to me, by my dealer..(2) tanks at half throttle..multiple heat cycles, etc..should be able to have it broke in, in about 200 more miles..lol

Good luck!

Well got the news from my dealer, piston had a chunk out of it and the oil ring was barely holding on,this thing was burning oil from the first day. They told me that they had a problem in house when they assembled the motor at the factory, nothing about improper break in.only 120 miles on the machine when I brought it back, there telling me I will have it back in two weeks. I told my dealer when I dropped it off I would except nothing but a brand new motor, and that's what I'm getting. Can't wait to drive it with the new motor cause it ran pretty good with all those broken parts rattling around inside the motor...lol anyway I'm happy with the way they it all went down cause they stood up and fixed the problem and took the blame. This is my first polaris and I'm here to tell you I will buy there product again. Funny to ,just got my new springs from racer tech they look totally different, guess I will just have to wait to try them till I get the machine back.

Older thread but glad you guys listed this because i am going threw it with a local dealer right now. After getting the transmission seal leak fixed under warranty, I mentioned that my oil is disappearing. The service guy (not sure if tech, or manager, or just service writer) says well its probably because you have not done your service yet and that I just need an oil change and to keep an eye on the levels. I strongly disagree... oil just doesn't disappear for not changing it, dirtier sure (which mine is clean, 24 hours on it even though have only had it 1 month lol). With in the last 2 hours of use it has gone from full oil level to completely under the "add oil" level. I check it religiously. I hope this is not my issue but nothing else would make sense. No oil leak, No smoke in the exhaust just levels dropping!

How did your dealers come to the conclusion of this being your issue? Any info would be great since I think I have an UP HILL battle with these guys. I told them they need to contact Polaris for approval for a compression check before i pick it up.

Your service manager needs to get involved thell have to pull the motor as soon as they open the bottom end they see the issue. Broken pieces every where.....

He need to call polaris they will explain it to him and have to authorize the tear down

So I followed up with the dealer today and finally spoke to the service manager. He told me that the request has been submitted and is waiting for Polaris to respond. However he doesn't think they will approve anything. I didn't bother to tell him i had been in contact with Polaris. After hanging up with him, I called Polaris again (FYI their customer service has been great). Polaris informs me that they have not been contacted by the dealer since the Transmission work from last week. I explain what the service manager just mentioned and the Customer service rep decides to put me on hold while he personally contacts the dealer to ask them about the situation and a case number because nothing is registered on the dealers behalf. As i see it, calling them out on why they claim to be waiting on Polaris when they have yet to even submit a warranty request... Dealer tells the Polaris rep that the manager is out (even though i literally got off the phone with him 2 minutes earlier). So now the Polaris rep has tried numerous times to contact the manager with no luck. He assured me that he will try to get to the bottom of this for me.

I simply just do not understand why this dealer would blame Polaris when they have yet to even submit anything. I takes more time to lie and cover up doing something then just actually doing it...

Waiting to see how tomorrow plays out... but i do have my trailer hooked up and ready to roll lol!

My main thing is for it to be a registered problem for my VIN# at the Polaris level to somewhat cover my rear! Then I think my next dealer will be where you had yours fixed Razorpilot, since they have encountered it prior.

They really cant rebuild it if its the piston skirt due to the contamination factor of metal all in motor and oil pump. But some dealers knowledge is less then others so keep on them.
