If you want to do outlaw trails with a guide (since it’s your first time). Call Jay Bailey with Hillbilly heaven Trailguide (681) 220-2111 not sure what he would charge if it’s only a few of you. But he told us to call him anytime and even if it was just singles he would still take us. Only$25 a car for the whole day. Some of us wanted to go see the horses but with a large group of stop and go-ers he said we’d never make it from wagon wheel. It was over 100 miles one way the trails he was going to take us.

I can’t recommend jay enough. He took us to the tunnels in Sophia one day and then about 120 miles the next. Awesome guy.

If by chance the DNR or an officer kicks us out and wont let us ride because of our 2 kids...than I will definitely be giving him a call. Thanks for this info!

We are staying in the town of Man, WV at the northern part of RH trails. I have it all mapped out to get to the southern part past Gilbert, but have no idea how many miles each trail is. Would it be smarter for us to trailer our RZR to somewhere in Gilbert? Or is the trip from Man to Gilbert not too far for a day of riding?
you can be in gilbert from man in a hour + or - if you take the shortest route, but your a for sure going to want to check out the rockhouse on trail 40 tho! Take some paint and put your name up there ours is on the pipe lol. The horses and outlaw trails are 10 mins from gilbert and if you trailer to Gilbert there is not a trail head parking lot to park. We will be there in 3 weeks my son and I are ready to go now tho!
I was looking into trail 40... It is a black trail. We are good riders, but I don't usually do anything other than Magenta, Green, & Blue trails when my kids are with me. Is 40 a "true" black trail? Or is it pretty easy to navigate?

no it should be blue IMO it was rough at one time and they must have fixed it I was bummed because I was looking forward to the roughness from the first time I hit it

Thanks alot for the info guys. We are going this weekend...and riding Sat & Sun. I have a Lifetime tablet with all of the trails. I wander if the outlaw trails are on the preloaded lifetime maps? I'd love to find some waterfalls, creeks, and coal mines to check out....and the Hatfield cemetary would be really cool too!
I will be going down in 3 weeks with my son,"GIRLFRIEND", mom and her bf so let us know how it goes with everything !

I agree with @Impact344, it should not be a black. Maybe if you are on a 2WD ATV, but certainly not in a SXS. Coming up from the 23/29 intersection there are 2 decent hill climbs, but straight and nothing off-camber. Coming up from 16/18/50 intersection is easier.

However, that only applies to 40. Trails 32 & 97 are no joke.

Rockhouse trail system was a good ride. We hung out at the big waterfall on trail 33...the coal mine on 33...and found one wild horse off of Right fork of Ben's creek road. We tried going to Rock formation on trail 40...but we went 23 to 40 and the 1st big hill was really gravelly and loose. Scared my wife a little bit so we turned around and didn't get to see it. We are thinking about checking out Devils Anvil or Buffalo Mountain next time, but it was a good time. I'll post some pics tomorrow and thanks for all of the info!
