Thanks Nolen. Thanks for so aptly describing what I've been spouting to my friends ever since I got the RZR 4.

While none of the trails where I ride are rated....frankly, many of the places I go aren't even trails....(it's not on BLM or park land, so don't anyone get all upset over that) nothing I've tried has made me back down yet.

Are you thinking about running your 4 in the KOH ? Now that would be cool. :)

I learned a long time ago to stay out of competition with hobbies are they no longer become fun :rm_thumbdown:

I did call the 2010 UTV Winner with my thoughts on the 4. I think the 4 would be, hands down, the best platform for a KOH build.

I was a bit concerned about the length in the rocks, but if the course in like last year, this platform would rule.

That said, the course designer told me he was going to make it a bit more technical this year than the past 2 years.

I still think it is the way to go.

I am going to save my pennies to tow mine out and cover both races. I can't wait to run it in the whoops.....

I will have to concur with this article. I just got back from Moab last weekend with 2 RZR 4's, a 2010 and a 2011. We ran Pritchet Canyon on the first day and all of Golden Spike the second day.

Pritchet Canyon is arguably one of the toughest trails in Moab (at least in the top 3) and the RZR 4 did awesome! You have to drive it different than a full size rig obviously and to know when to use that little vertical thin peddle, but over all it was a blast. We were going up most of the obsticals way easier than all the buggies on the trail. The only obstical that we strapped up for was the by pass for Rocker Nocker and that was just to be "safe". That by pass is getting more nasty than Rocker Nocker itself.

The group that was following us that consisted of 4 rock buggies all rolled at least once on the trail and one rolled twice. It could of been from the 30 bomb they all had too. The length of the RZR 4 in all the situations we were in was a plus. A 2 seat RZR could not of made it out of Pritchet alive.

Golden Spike was a blast too. Not as technical as Pritchet but flying off all those 3-4 foot ledges made it for a fun day. Instead of inching your way down the ledges we found out it was faster, easier and more fun just to stomp on it and jump off them. The 2010 4 tipped over doing the Golden Crack backwards but that was just because he took a wrong line pushing the limits.

I have had a lot of rigs in Moab through out the years and I will never go back to a full size rig again. Polaris has hit a home run with the RZR 4.

I sold my crawler and went to a RZR just for the ease of hauling it and I can enjoy so many more types of terrains. I had never been to the dunes before and now I'm a Dune dog, I still love crawling and just trail riding but currently for my money you can't beat the RZR... thank you Polaris... great write up..

We are doing 66% or more of the Hammers with a group on Sunday the 7th as a part of the Buggy Bash November 6th and 7th! I will be leading a group doing a large portion of the course in the last two races;) Anyone can join in with us and have a great time riding JV!

Nope. No lift, I would not want to change out all the stuff I would have to change out, also, I like it low so I can pitch it around without it flipping.

If my Bronco buggy was not street legal, it would be gone. Rockcrawling a RZR allows me to step it down a notch from the extreme trails to have fun and get my blood pumping.

Until I started crawling UTVs, I was constantly in search of new extreme trails to challenge me.

Being able to step it down also opens up a TON of more areas that I want to wheel that in the past did not interest me in my 39" Sticky Tire clad rock buggy.

Great article. I have to agree about the 4. Ive had several atvs in the past and also a 2 seater RZR and Ive never felt comfortable in any of the rock crawling situations we've been in. Ive ridden all over Arkansas, E. Oklahoma and 1 trail ride in Colorado but by far the 4 is the best ive driven and me and my family feel the safest in. We just got back from riding Mt. Magazine up in Arkansas they have over 160 miles of trails and some are what I would consider extreme, and it took those trails on w/out any hesitation. Its actually given me a compassion for rock crawling, in the past I was into mudding but now Im hooked on rock crawling and trail riding.

Mt Magazine is about 90 miles North of Hot Springs. We like to stay on top of Mt. Magazine either at the lodge or they also have a full hook up RV camp ground. They usually stay booked up. The trails for the most part are very wide and the 4 fits down em w/no prob. However, alot of the 160+ miles are forest service roads that you use to access the trails, if you plan on going up let me know I have a good map of the trails and roads and can email you a copy. There are mud holes in the bottoms, and rock climbing on some of the trails. There's some very fun stairs step that have been cut into the trails for going up and down the trail system. These are our favorite trails to ride. Here's a few pix from last week, they are mostly of the scenary though:
This is Buzzard Rock about a 2.5 hr trail ride from the top of Mt. Magazine

Here's the stream you'll cross several times on the one of the trails. The river is dry now but when we rode back in the winter it was rushing.

One of the lakes you can climb down to and have a great family picnic and go fishing if you want.

If you want more info let me know

Windrock is an awesome place to ride. My favorite of the places I've been. Me and a few friends are heading up there in 13 days. We will be making a 3 day ride. I can't wait!
