Should I use Rock Sliders with my new UHMV skid plate?

IMO, NO!! I told you that last night.....

They get hung up on the rocks too easily, not "slide" over them.

I wish I’d bought those instead of the Polaris sliders. The Polaris design offers okay protection but they hang a lot more than they slide and they mount too low. It appears these would slide much better, they’re lighter and no reduction in ground clearance. Protection? Probably just as good I’m guessing.

Thanks rogo159.

My riding entails lots of rocky mountainous terrain...so lots of sliding off of rocks, logs, etc. The photo was taken when they were new, but since then, they have definitely saved my floorboards and side sills...BIG TIME. If I were to nitpick them, I would have liked to have seen them longer, towards the front. I'm always concerned that if my front wheel(s) drop off a large rock, the rock could take out the very forward (leading) edge of the sills and/or floorboards. Still though, I have absolutely no regrets getting these Holz skids.

Maybe if there were something solid under the RZR to mount them to....
Right now a longer slider would only be good for things like hiding 20 pounds of dirt and rocks, or getting hung up on something and ripping the rest of the plate off.

It has crossed our minds before. Just being honest, it's not a change you can expect in the near future:)

Good point Holz...it is quite hollow in that section.

By the way...I'm the guy who came down from Canada to visit your shop and spend $$$ (about 2 months ago) on my way to Minnesota to pick up a new RZR. I was driving the white Ford Supercrew with the empty trailer!

Yes...a very long drive indeed...just shy of 7000 kms. Getting the RZR back through the border was rather uneventfull...but the thousands of dollars of mods I had in the back of my truck was a little more stressfull...Let's just say I'm back in Canada and leave it like that!!!!

bilinvic I have a quick question. One of the things holding me back on the Holz Skid is how thin the plastic is compared to like FUTV has. I like to do alot of rocky trails and always thought that they might be a little thin but sounds like you do about the same. They holding up good and don't feel to thin?

I don't have a lot of miles on my RZR yet....but, from the riding I have done so far, including lots of sliding over rocks, trees etc., the Holz UHMV skids have performed as expected...perfect! I'm very confident they will last a long time considering the abuse they are going to sustain...at least I hope so anyway!

Here is a question because I can't tell by looking at online pictures. If I were to install the polaris full underbody skid plates do they go all the way to the edge of the sides? From what I can see the only difference between the skid plates and the sliders is the sliders wrap around the sides and the skid plates just go to the edge. Is that correct? I'm just trying to make sure that if I use the skid plate package that all of the plastic will be protected on the bottom.
