It seems that most people mount their tablets to the passenger side grab handle with RAM mounts however I’m looking to see if anyone has mounted them overhead on the drivers side and what mounts were used. I like the idea of having it overhead and from a dry fit I can keep the tablet even with my rear view mirror (at an angle) so it shouldn’t obstruct the view. I just can’t seem to find a mount that looks like it would work. If you have info or pictures that would be great.

Just came in from a ride and seen this post- so excuse the Wyoming dust...LOL

Mine, I had it over head like Max Power- but got tired of looking up. I mounted on the dash - I did reinforce the underside Ram mount to support the banging around and have a 6" ram mount arm with the Ram tablet mount. The I pad is in a Life proof case so dirt and weather doesn't affect it at all.
No Issues in the past 2 RZR's I have has this way-

I keep it charged with the 2.5 USB port to the right of the grab handle mount, Keeps everything out of the way and frees up the power port in the dash.

I used a RAM mount to mount my camera system display (same as 7" tablet) above the driver. I'm still debating on whether to mount my GPS on the handle bar or to the center storage box - I just don't want to lose that space.

Been running mine overhead for years now and would never think of changing it. I have found over the years that the bigger RAM ball systems work much better than the little ones. The B size ball just had too much wiggle to it. I now run the C ball show here https://www.rammount.com/part/RAM-202U bolted through the roof. From there I run an a double socket arm down to a second 202U. That second one has an AMPS hole pattern on it which is what my iPad cradle has on the back of it. It has been the best setup I have found so far. My problem is the case and cradle are no longer being made as I am sure LifeProof just weren't selling enough of them. I am so happy with this setup that I have 3 spare iPad minis that will fit that case in the event mine dies.

I did just the same thing with an iPad mini. While trailering it back home at 65 miles per hour the iPad blew out and was destroyed. It is a nice place to mount it but watch out for high speeds. A friend of mine had the exact same thing happen to him while on a fast trail but luckily it fell in his lap. I mount mine now with a Ram Mount ball screwed into the center glovebox faceplate. Works great for 5000 miles.

Jasplat88, that is where mine is mounted on my 2017 900 Trail. I also use a Samsung 8 inch tablet with GPS Waypoints Navigator.

I started out by buying an ATV Tek Clearview Mirror because I wanted a good rear view mirror. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DELNHJI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Then when I wanted to add a GPS/Tablet, I discovered that the Ram Mount 1" ball mounts will fit right into the ATV Tek mounting bracket. So I bought this Ram Mount to go into the Mirror mount bracket. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0098QTFTO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Holds my 10.1" Samsung Galaxy Tablet secure to the top bar and has a bit of adjustment via the ATV Tek Mirror mount. It does vibrate a bit, but I think that's because the 10.1" tablet is so heavy. I would think a 7"-8" tablet would be more stable, but still there's no fear of it falling down from the mount. As an added bonus, if I wanted, I could swap the clearview mirror back into the GPS slot without using any tools, just hand tightening, but I just added a cheapo $12 mirror to take care of my rear view.

I have a full glass windshield on my R & T rzr. I've been using the double suction cup ram mount to hold my 10.1 Samsung tablet to the windshield. I'm using 1" ball mounts but the 1 1/4" ball would be better. I've never had any problems with this setup, 3100 miles on the R&T.

It is not water resistant, but it is a tough case as far as dropping it. I just put it in a big zip lock baggie when I took it out, worked great.

Though I would share the route I ended up going for anyone else considering this. Originally I planned to go above head using the ram tab tite however after multiple test fittings I realized with my cage dimensions and seat positioning it was going to limit my field of view. I opted to go with the ram tab tite, c ball, 2.5” ball extension, and an assult industries 1.5” clamp, all of which are mounted on my lower crossbar on my a pillar. After multiple rides I’m very happy with the setup, I’m able to see the iPad clearly, reach it when necessary and it doesn’t move at all (very secure)- side note originally I also planned to use the ram roll cage mount however it allowed for more movement when the iPad was mounted in it than I cared for. Overall very very happy with the setup and very practice.

Assult industries clamp 1/4”-20, 1.5”
Ram c ball w/ threads (rap-379u-252025)
Ram double socket arm 2.5”
Ram tab tite spring loaded holder

Just want to thank MAXPOWER for posting all the references to the mounts. Just ordered mine since I'm switching from a 7" tablet to a 10" since the smaller tablet doesn't have enough memory for the Lifetime trailmaps I just ordered. I'm still going to try and keep the tablet mounted in front of the steering wheel on the dash of my RZR as it's nice to see at a glance. I also keep an old Lowrance iFinder Expedition mounted there as a backup. Sorry not the best pic but it's all I have right now.
