I was talking to Polaris about this problem and was going to make a girdle for the Rear Diff. I have now changed my mind. I'm going to cast a new Diff Housing. It's going to be as easy to make the Match Plate as it would have been to build the girdle fixture. I should be able to have a first piece in as little as 2 weeks. Should be twice as strong as the original. Then we can make more HORSEPOWER!!!!! Isn't Dreaming up shit for these machines Great Fun? By the way I used to be a mold maker in one of my past Jobs. A persons only limits are his ability to dream and then make it Happen.

Dreaming up stuff? This sounds almost the same idea as the billet ones that I posted a couple of weeks ago that I was having made. I fiqured the overwhelming reponse I got would light a fire for more to build. Well as long as we are working on improvements! Lets fix the weak links.

competition is what the consumer needs. make a good product and stand behind it. we will see who's is better. you cannot be the only one who makes widgets, besides didnt Polaris(Spicer/Dana) make the part first?

just build the better case and let the consumer decide on which one they like. enough B.S. build the case!!!

I'm sorry if I'm stepping on your toes. I need this part to keep my racers in the race.
I'm sure you'r billet case will be a work of art, but I need somethin now, and it's quicker to cast it than make a billet part. As you know I'm in the business.

why is it we need/want this? i have 780mi on the weber/rzr-s and gary had at least 500i on his mcx/rzr without a prob. are they breaking cause of the jumping? or because you hold em wide open for extended time and they overheat? what part is gonna fail after the case is improved..the gears?

we blew the gears in the 26hp golf cart only because he never lifted the throttle after a jump..

No big deal! I'm just a little guy that knew I needed this fixed on mine. I noticed on these sites that it was a issue and I thought this could help some people out. I dont get anything for this. Im just helping out the machine shop and a bunch of other owners. I just dont like to break. It happens but I atleast like to take out the known issues before they break again. All I know is I broke one early last year and everyone told me it was a fluke, but then I read online that it kinda common. But with my new weber motor I want known issues gone so that I can enjoy.

I missed the broken rear end threads.thats why im asking...What exactly breaks?
the only one i remember reading was someone that only raced was breaking it everytime out..i thought someone said it was a bolt that was hitting the case when the frame flexed...I think my reply started off " why do we need/want this? it was a question.... I'm not sure how "no big deal" answers it..

The internal parts, ring and pinion, are heavy duty enough. Because the ring and pinion are bevel bears, they are trying to force themselves apart. This force, on a race machine, becomes more than the di-cast case can take and it breaks. The cases we are making will be cast from 356 aluminum. We will be redesigning the shape of the case and how the pinion, and case end are mounted. The redesign part is what I dream up, NOT the Idea of doing a new case. We are also just doing the main case and not the cover. If we have problems with the cover we will do that too.

Sorry "bigmike58" but "no big deal" wasnt ment for you. I just tring to wind down a issue that got a little carried away. As for what breaks? With mine, some how the case flexed enough for the ring to grap the pinion and stuff it out the bottom of the case. Now this was early last year when it happened and everyone just thought it was a fluke. But when I was researching at the time I did hear about people finding the bottom of there diffs starting to crack. Some guys were welding them and some were even having them plated. Now to be honest I did notice a week or so before mine broke that I had some gear oil on the frame below the diff. I just thought it was the seal leaking AGAIN. But of course, after it broke I can only quess that it was slowly breaking untill it went.
So in the last few months I been searching the internet trying to fiqure out whats been breaking before I add a bunch of power and I see that alot of these have been breaking. So luckly Ive got a broken one sitting on my bench and I started looking at it. Well to me there is all kinds of room for improvement.
I really am excited about adding this new motor but I also know I dont want to hold back because something might break (well atleast a know weak part). I got some high engagement drag racing and sled pulling ideas in mind so I think this issue needs addressed. LOL!! So this lead me to the machine shop.
Update on the machine shop last week: He bought to blocks of material and I seen the computer drawing he was working on. The drawing wasnt done but it getting there. I'll update when I hear something.

Darrel,
One thing I see with the direction of the breakage is the Pinion try is forced by the ring gear downward. That causes the case to crack. In most cases the engine braking affect of the clutch causes the ring gear to over run the pinion and blows the side cover. The two RZRs that we run are both in the 1900 lb range and that exasberates the problem.
We'll be waiting for something new, whether cast or billet, but your right, we got to do something to stay in the race.

So all the race gear added 950lbs?Or is that with the driver and passenger?

1900 lbs SCORE/BITD legal, full of fuel, and parts.
