There is a clunking noise coming from my rear diff with metal shavings in the oil has anyone had any issues will with the rear diff yet? It has 600 miles on it.

I have a pretty loud clanking noise in mine also. Going to change the oil this weekend. Not too happy about the way it sounds. It's only really noticeable when going slow on decell down hills or when backing up in reverse. I noticed it more when I put aftermarket axles on (Highlifter) but I removed them and inspected and re-installed them. I used liberal anounts of anti-seize on the splines and made sure the axles were seated and locked in tight. CV's are super tight also still. I know the noise is inside the case and not on the axles or drive shaft.

Guys, I build more diffs than most in the country I think. Polaris pinion nuts DO back off if not done right. If you hear a clunking in the diff, STOP riding it! It probably has a pinion nut backing off. I find the pinion nut loose on MANY diffs that come in when I remove the pinion to put in the HPD HD case.

We can rebuild stock diffs. Install your ring and pinion in the HPD HD diff case. Or, I usually stock new stuff if you have already torn up the diff.

Get with me if you need any of our services.

Mine has a good bit too..has since day one..I would have never known there was play if I hadn't have changed the axles..I've had no issues from it. Ive found no specs for side to side play in the manual. Its not like a typical diff..its a helical gear that has roller bearing on either side that sets in the case..these aren't preloaded roller bearings. Is the play causing you a problem? I personally decided it was normal for the design..

I should note mine makes no clunking noise during operation...only when snatching and axle out or popping one back in, or if the axles are out and I push/pull on the shaft :) any clunking noise during operation I'd be sure it wasn't brakes, CVs or something else before blaming the trans outpu..JMO

Mine is at my dealer right now. I noticed the rear diff/trans leaking oil out of the case. They took it apart and there is not enough glue in between the case half. They told me this is the 4th or 5th one they have seen. I told them it is hard shifting too. They said to put Redline oil in it so it would shift better.

I have been a Polaris guy for 30+ years but, I'm loosing faith with this RZR and all my new snowmobile issues too.

Polaris, are you listening?
