R&T or XP PRO

So, my wife really wants to buy one of the new RZR1000XP PRO machines and I don't. We have a 2017 Rock & Trail that I love. We ride trails and do some rock crawling and it has all the power I need and has never let me down. She wants the Pro model with all the bells and whistles. We took one for a ride and yes, it has lots of power and turns great and has music, dynamics, etc.
The new interior is amazing and looks really cool, seats are very comfortable...but do all those features justify the high cost?

I don't like the higher doors, can't really rest my arm on them and they seem rather flimsy. Doesn't have the big drain holes in the floor board like all the other RZR's. Not too thrilled about having to remove 4 bolts to access the service area, although once removed it is nice.

So there are pros and cons and I just wanted thoughts from others on this. Have to keep peace in the family. lol

R&T or XP PRO

I have the new XP Pro Ultimate. It is amazing. You're right about the doors being higher, but I think this is for protection, in case of a roll over. I will be getting the Pro Armor full doors soon. The Dynamix is amazing, but the audio sucks. The sound quality is terrible, and the components are terrible. Once some accessories and mounts come out, my Rockford Fosgate PMX-3 will be going in the dash (somewhere).

As for the drain holes, I thought that was odd also, but a lot less water came in, and it exited out very quickly. I did many creek crossings on the Outlaws in WV, and the water didn't splash
in through the firewall like my old one did, and it drained out very quickly.

If you get one, you will love it. Everything is much improved.

That's good to know about the audio, thanks. I'm sure the Dynamix is great and that's about the only thing I would want on my R&T. Most of my rides are 5-10 mph or maybe 20 mph so I dont need any more horsepower. The doors on the PRO seem a little flimsy and I DO like to rest my arm on the R&T. What are the ProArmor doors like? I don't mind spending the money to get what I want but for the cost of the PRO I shouldn't have to start changing things. Can your give me a ballpark figure on how much you paid out the door? Just curious. They quoted me otd with a winch, windshield & roof about $31k.

I highly doubt there will be a naturally aspirated version the pro. The XP 1000 has essentially become the "budget" Polaris model at this point.

The next Pro models will be 72" versions to replace the Turbo S or possibly compliment the current Turbo S models.

I'm going to bet we see some special edition model Pros as well. Like a high lifter or rock and trail or something along those lines.
The XP 1000 model will stick around for a couple years to to sell machines to people who cant afford the high end stuff. No different then how they kept the 900XP and 800S for a while after the XP 1000 was introduced.

Yeah, it's funny, at first she was afraid to go over small rocks or get slightly off camber and now she dares me to go fast and go up steep climbs. However, when she dared me to go fast through a large pond and it drowned her she changed her mind about that.lol
I was amazed when she said let's go get one of the new XP PRO machines and wanted to buy it after we took it for a ride. I said we will talk about it and now I have salesmen calling me almost every day asking if she changed my mind yet.

We are heading for MOAB soon and I will show her how good our R&T handles there.

I too have a Trails & Rocks Edition. I have 5700 miles on it and it has been fantastic on our tough Arizona rocky trails. However, I really like the new Pro. So, when and if Polaris decides to make a Trails & Rocks edition Pro sign me up. Then you and your wife will both be happy....... you know how it goes "Happy Wife Happy Life" !!
