I am going to be buying a RZR this weekend, and my local dealership has a couple options:

Option 1- a RZR-S (stock) for $13,999 :rzrs:
Option 2 - a regular RZR with fullboar body kit, aftermarket cage, bumpers and wheels and tires for $10,999 :redrzr:

My question is: How good is the RZR-S stock suspension? Would it be a better investment for me to by the RZR-S, with stock long travel or buy the regular RZR and invest in an aftermarket long travel kit?
How many people who have purchased the RZR-S have ended up upgrading their suspension?
*Keep in mind that I am a fabricator, and I can build my own cage, bumpers, etc.

Thanks, Brandon

Welcome to the forum.

There are a couple questions you need to ask yourself first.

1. Will you have 4- 5K to spend on aftermarket suspension?
2. Do you want a complete right out of the box best ride experience?

The Rzr S suspension does great..The springs get really soft and start to sag. A cheap solution is to buy makin Trax progressive springs. I bought a Std Rzr and bought a used s suspension with the makin Trax springs and it was night and day diff. For the price it couldnt be beat but there are some really nice Long Travel systems out there too. I didnt want to go too wide so the s was perfect. If I was planning to run wide open desert or sand I would have gotten the Bent Motorsports + 10 kit. That is a sweet setup.

Being from Vegas, I assume most of your riding is out in the open. Def go with the S, as you will spend $3-4K to upgrade the suspension of a regular RZR to RZR S capabilities. If you live in the woods like we do, then the 50" wide stock RZR is the only smart choice. That S price sounds like a fair one. Is it a '10 or an '11?

Both are great machine, the rzr s suspension is great, you could buy the fullbore rzr because you will not get a good deal and buy the purepolaris rzr suspension.

I am 6'9 and weigh in at 385lbs. My right knee misses the dash by about 1" Rhino's are very tight for me. This RZR has plenty of leg room and head room. My brother is 6'11 and his knee barely touches the dash.

RZR-S and get upgraded the springs from Makin Trax. Decent aftermarket kit will run you 4 - 5k.

Overkill, Those prices seem high, but I'm not from your area. Just seems like a lot to pay full MSRP. There are some recent threads with price checks on them for the S model.

If you don't want to go and have to pay later for an expensive upgrade while you're paying for the machine, get the S. There are some killer LT kits out there though and superior shocks....but they're big bucks and you can't tack that onto your payments.
