How tough is the Polaris w/s? Is it scratch resistant like the EMP one?

I have a 2011 RZR LE with a brand new EMP tinted Windshield. The 1st time I rode my RZR in dusty dry trail conditions within 10 miles the windshield was totally scratched from one side to the other. I dusted the windshield with a microfiber cloth so I could see further and that's all it took to have scratches from one side to the other. The intersting part was that if the scratches actually were from the microfiber clothe the scratches would go from left to right. But that isn't what the scratches look like, they look circular (maybe 4" circles.

I took the windshiel back to the dealer and they contacted EMP. So far the response from EMP was that the tinted windshield is scratch resistant not scratch proof. What the hell does that mean???? EMP supposedly has a clear windshield with a hardcoat that supposedly is more scratch resistant. I'm waiting on EMP to see what they will do for me in this situation.

Outside of EMP the dealer just suggested the Polaris windshiel, but they cant guarentee any better result unles I buy one and see if the problem goes away.

I'll try the Polaris Windshield if I have to but I'm waiting on EMP to give me a solution that will work out for both of us.

Good Luck!!

My Polaris w/s has been fairly scratch resistant with careful cleaning (always use soapy water). Hunterworks sells one they ran a wiper with a piece of sandpaper under it for like a couple hours with no scratches. They have videos on their site of them shooting it with .22's, and hitting it with a sledgehammer. Seems pretty strong. Expensive, though.

My Polaris windshield held up pretty well for a while but eventually got a haze of small scratches to the point of being annoying.

I went to Tap Plastics and got a piece of polycarbonate cut and that scratched way too easy.

Then I did some research and found that the stuff to use is Lexan MR10. They claim that it is as scratch resistant as glass and almost unbreakable. From what I can tell, it is the same stuff Nascar uses. I've rubbed it and cleaned it and it still looks like glass. Very cool stuff.

What happened to yours?
Nothing, The EMP doesn't go all the way down to the body, which is great for summer but not so much for winter. Wind and rain get in and we all know that I'm a little too precious to be getting cold and wet.

I read about that stuff. I might have to go that route. The dealer wants $250 for the Polaris one.
