Hi, I have a 2013 900 xp 4 walker Evans esp. It has close to 4000 miles on it. 300 of them might be from me. I haven't had it that long. The guy I bought it from claims to have done regular maintenance on it at his local dealer. From the looks of it and the way it drives, I can tell it was taken care of. I ride it hard. I had noticed a few rides ago that it was sometimes hard to get into and out of a gear. Not always. I did get into water one time and felt a little slip and instantly drained the belt housing. After a few minutes I road and it seemed like it had never happened. The last time I went out I accidentally, and I swear it was an accident, went into a major mud hole and got stuck. I don't have a winch yet, and was alone. I went back and forth for about a half hour, then called for help. On the way home I heard it start squealing a little and still trying to go after applying the brakes. Got it home and can only shift when off. Took belt cover off and there was some mud and water inside. Belt spins all the time. Checked the center bearing and it's froze. That long story leads to this. I don't have the removal tool. I know what most are going to say, and I'll take it, but...I've seen people make home made tools by using a long bolt and adding things like socket extensions or what not in front of the bolt. My question is, can't I use the bolt that came out of it, if I add a piece of round stock, just smaller than the threads of the primary bolt, and it work just the same?

NO, the puller threads screw into the clutch it is bigger than the bolt that holds it on, it screws into the crank and please don't do the homemade thing, you already got one mess don't make it two.

Use the right puller and then see what you need clutch related, we would have the puller, etc if needed.

Primary Clutch Puller atleast... I have never changed that bearing before but a clutch compression tool might assist, which you can make yourself with all thread, etc. Several merchants on this forum sell both items. You may consider a clutch kit if you need one now would be the time.

Remove primary clutch and replace one way or two way bearing. Which ever I have. I'm sure I have engine braking of some sorts. Wouldn't two way bearing be harder on brakes?

If you're near San Diego. Buy yourself the puller for like $40 and come over to my place, I have all the clutch tools. Bring a 6r of Red Trolley and a burrito.
