Primary Clutch Question

I have a roller on my primary starting to flat spot. Its a '14 XP1K.

Does anyone know if the rollers on the pre '14 900's are the same as the XP1K?

Looks like Polaris does not sell the rollers for the XP1K, but they do sell them for the pre '14 900's.

Thanks

A little more research shows that the 900 and 1000 entire clutch assemblies have different part #'s. But, the spiders have the same part #.

Polaris does sell the rollers for the 900, and since the spider part #'s are identical, I am assuming they use the same roller.

Still having a hard time understanding why Polaris would not sell a wearable part separately on the 1000's but they will for other models??

Had a buddy flat spot one of his rollers and the dealer replaced the entire clutch! I'm too cheap for that!!!

Be carefull! Polaris has had problems with rollers since 2013. We have been fighting this for the past couple of years on the snow side. In most cases it's not the roller; it's the bushing. It's hard to see if you are only looking at the roller. To see roller wear, the bushing failed long ago.

I see this all the time. Not sure how to solve, they all look the same. Randy

Thanks Gregg. Found that a little while ago.
Going to check on the 900 rollers to see if they are compatible first. I can get those locally and I need them soon. Would have to pay quite a bit for expedited delivery from EPI. But may have to anyways if the 900 rollers aren't a match.
Appreciate the tip.

I don't mean to hijack, but-

My xp1k sometimes 'sticks' in gear instead of letting loose at an idle or when stopped. I have to kill the motor to stop.
I haven't opened it up yet-- but is this what happens when rollers get flat spots???
Thx in advance for any info!

edit- I have 5500 miles on the machine, so I am assuming something is worn out

I picked up the rollers for a 900. They are the same as the XP1K.
Spendy....$30 apiece. Would of ordered the from Todd if I had time, and save a few bucks.
Heelclicker was right. The bushings were shot on two of the rollers, which I'm sure caused the flat spots. There was no dirt or grit in the rollers either. Bushings just started falling apart and wearing uneven.
Got it together and leave Saturday for a week long trip. Just put the Heelclicker kit in and anxious to try it out.
(BTW...2k miles on this RZR)

I actually ended up getting a new primary and have been running it up until now.
I got back from trip to Dumont, and had 1 roller flat spot on the new primary I installed, so just put the rebuilt one on this weekend. Will be riding Winchester next weekend with the rebuilt primary.
I did lend the rebuilt one to a couple friends when their primaries had issues, one was at Sand Mountain, and the other was at St. Anthony. Both put a lot of miles on it, so I guess I will see how many miles are left on it!

I am all about back ups! I carry a full set of suspension back ups and will be using this as a back up also. I'm having issues finding replacement parts for my XP1000 buttons / rollers on the primary. I have an email into EPI to see if they have them in stock or what. Where were you finding them at ?

This is all I need, the bolts are fine.

Try SLP. That is where I got the rollers for the rebuilt primary.

Just received a SLP catalogue in the mail and they are offering a new spider for the stock clutch with replaceable parts. They state that it is stronger than the stock one. Not a lot of details, and no price listed.
I'm going to give them a call soon to inquire and see if I can get more details.

No, a complete spider. I looked on their website and its not on there yet.

Here is what the catalog said:

"Billet Spider"

"SLP's new spider provides superior strength through the use of a special proprietary aluminum alloy. This alloy is an SLP exclusive boasting strength similar to steel while remaining lightweight to minimize flex as force is applied. With press in buttons and replaceable rollers, this spider is very durable."
