Make sure the ball joint pinch bolts are tight. ps this may sound retarded ut I am new to this forum HOW DO YOU MAKE A NEW POST??

 

On the main forum to go new topic. I have no idea what a ball joint pinch bolt is? I can build a PC and fix anything on them but I know zero when it comes to mechanics..

 

try checking the ball links off the sway bar to the a-arms. I have stripped a few from jumping.

 

Unless it's a quick fix and they have the parts in stock, they won't want you to drive it and cause more damage. If you do, they won't warranty it. I've had some clicking that sounded like it was coming from my right rear cv (axle), and I just pulled the axle and greased the splines on each end, tightened all a-arm and hub bolts, regreased zirks on a-arms and sway bars, and clicking went away. That only takes about 30 min per side.

 

Take the Hub off. You also have to take the brake caliper off. Then grease or anti-seize all inside there. Then torque the 27mm hub nut down to 80ft lbs.

That fixed my poping front end problem.

 

I have the same problem. Dealer said he thinks its my rubberdown lift kit makin the noise but i don't think so. Sound like it is coming from the drivers side.

 

Same problem with noise. Also, have Rubberdown lift. Took the hub off, greased the splines, put it back together...no more noise. BTW the splines looked like they never had grease. Are they supposed to?

 

I had the same problem, but no lift - only wheel spacers. Dealer replaced both front wheel bearings.

 

Well, I hear a popping noise from time to time, I believe it's the sway bar, and it will get worse if you go on a muddy three day ride. Usually if I ride through a stream or something it washes it off and the noise goes away. There are some grease nipples on the sway bar mounts. Just check to see if your hub is loose, if not, it's probalby just the sway bar.

 

I removed my front sway bar, so it's not that. It stopped with some grease on the splines and re-torqueing to hub. Does anyone know if the spline is supposed to be greased?

 

I had similar problems. Just got back from dealer today, they installed a 2mm washer right before the axle nut. They said they have had a few machines with these problems.

 

Mine had 2 washers.

 

Mine also has two washers.

 

Here's my guess...the CV joint gets in a bind, making the poppoing noise. Raising it up, taking off the hub, putting it back on; simply relieves the bind...no more noise.

 

guess I didn't make it clear on the last post....mine now has 3 washers.

 

I had the same problem today, followed the information on here and greased the splines and re torqued to 80 lbs. No more popping noise, what a great forum for sharing information.
