I'd bet a lot of them break pulling people out in reverse.. If I didn't know about the chain I wouldnt' give a second thought to doing it. I pulled and been pulled by others in reverse dozens of times in my 800..

So based on early voting there is no need to yell chicken little cause only a couple failed and both of them were drinking.
Probably still not advisable to ride with Oprah.
Yeah, it looks that way... as a new owner (on it's way anyways) of an XP, I kept hearing stories about reverse chains breaking.

It's rather obvious at this point that it's only a small percent of people that have problems with the chain in comparison to the number of owners of XPs.

Mark do you feel better..
Much!!!

I kinda figured that but as I was doing some research, I came across quite a few posts about broken chains.

I'll just be conscientious if I back up in reverse. It seems that most aren't giving it a second thought and are just fine.

Thanks for everyone's input.

my chain was replaced but was not actually broken,,found a piece of link plate stuck to the drain plug magnet when I changed the trans fluid after 150 miles (my deff of break in time) drove it another 650 miles before having it replace when the trans case halves started leaking and needed to be resealed due to factory machining issues. UNDER WARRANTY

new about the broken piece and it was always in the back of my mind when reversing till replaced

never really used reverse in the first 150 miles / not an impairment issue either so it must have been defective from the chain supplier from the git go

1400+ miles on mine and friend has well over 2k on his with the stock chain

I noticed one thing when i upgraded to an XP. If you get stuck all the 800 guys feel a need to pull you out. You don't have to do anything. Not even get out and get your tennis shoes dirty or straps muddy. You can even act like its in reverse.
Back at camp I feed them though. I'm not a creep.
This is a 900 thread. They won't read this.

I've had no issues Mark. I don't baby mine at all but I don't beat it in reverse either.
Gary, I must have missed your XP purchase last year. Good deal. Glad to see you still have your turbo 800 in the stable!
I keep it in case I have to back up with the XP it can pull me instead..:rofl3:
