Christmas I received two lock n ride gas can holders.
I check the Polaris website showing the gas can carrier and a gas can being held on by two straps. Wording states gas can sold separately.
I check my two gas can carriers and neither has the two straps I thought came with the carrier.
I call Polaris Customer service and 25 minutes or so later I ask to talk to the supervisor. While waiting to be transferred, I am disconnected. I call right back and get someone different. Again 25 or minutes later I am at the same stage of want to talk with a supervisor.
FIRST issue, the gas can carrier measures 12 inches long by 9 inches wide. The gas can they were going to sell with this frame did not pass CARB emission issues, thus it was discontinued for sale. But Polaris did not replace this condemned gas can with another gas can that would fit. Of course their measurement of 12 by 9 does not fit any other gas can. So now I have two chunks of metal sold by Polaris knowing full well there is no gas can that will fit their holder properly.
The Sceptor 2.5 gal gas can when in the carrier and snugged in to a corner has about an inch space all around it. Webco gas cans are even worse fitting. To make these gas cans fit properly one would have to add shims. If I am adding shims, I might as well make my own gas can carriers.
The 5 gal gas cans plain do not fit as they are too big.
I spent over 3 hours looking at a variety of gas cans on the internet and the ones noting measurements are either way too big or like the Sceptor not fitting properly.
SOLUTION is .... I have none .... the Polaris Lock n Ride gas can carrier for all intents and purposes is a waste of steel. Disappointing a large company like Polaris would sell a product that does not fit anything and do not seem to care to fix or remedy the problem.
SECOND issue, the website clearly shows the gas can carrier with two straps and a gas can. gas can sold separately. I received no straps. I am told they were now sold as a separate items for $5 each strap. No where on their website does it state or show a strap available for sale. Also no where on their website does it state the straps are sold separately.
This apparently all changed back March 28, 2011 or earlier this year. They have been modifying the website with the 2012 units and new accessories... why not update this page.
Polaris Customer Service said many things on their website show things that are not included... I asked for an example, and he said he could not think of one to provide as example.... NICE answer dude.... NOT !!!!!
Has anyone else had poor experiences in dealing with their customer service?????
From my conversation with them, it does not sound like they are willing or wanting to assist the paying client that is wanting to and has purchased their Pure Polaris products. Maybe this is how Polaris got the nickname Pooooooolaris ????
Your thoughts and feedback is welcomed..... or if you are using a gas can that actually fits their Pure Polaris gas can carrier... please let me know brand name and volume size... Ideally I would prefer a 5 gal that fits the carrier... but 2.5 to 5 gal would be good to.....
Thanks for reading this vent of very poor custmer service IMHO.
