Well after alot of research I found bulbs that work in the rear of my 09 Rzr. I will list all part #s below if people are interested. I removed my stock melted tail lights and installed new ones with backup/worklight area. I just wired them to a switch so I can use them whenever I want.

I ordered new tail lights from Genuine Polaris Parts | Polaris Accessories | Polaris ATVs| Polaris Ranger | Polaris RZR | Ohio Polaris Dealer
I have a 09 & ordered lights from a 08. These have a clear lens on the side for reverse/backup lights.
Left---2410427 $37.41
Right--2410428 $37.45

Since there isn't a harness for the worklights I made my own. All you need to do is run one wire from the switch to the lights and ground it to the bed support. You do need a bulb holder which I purchased at the local auto parts store.
qty. 2-- Dorman 85868 License plate/sidemarker light socket.

great info! thank you for the write up.

does the led tail light bulb get much noticably brighter??

How about brightness off-axis? Those multi-LED bulbs look way better than the cheap auto-parts store version I tried. That one was WAY dimmer than stock bulb, from any angle. Of course the packaging *claimed* they were much brighter than a bulb...what a joke :rm_thumbdown:

I've been wanting to do this upgrade for awhile. My only concern on this is the durability factor on those multi LED bulbs. Vibration and impacts are pretty severe in this application, And from my past experience with these type lamps. They tend to start to lose rings of LEDS as solder joints break and degrade.

I look forward to hearing your future reviews of how the installation holds up ! At 25$ a bulb, It will be a stunner to see one already partially unlit early in its life.
I spent 30$ a piece putting multiple LED array cards in my RV ceiling lights. Most have failed in a very short period of time. Cooked my goose man !!

When I installed LED bulbs into the stock fixtures, they light, but now I have no brake lights and I can start the RZR without stepping on the brake. Took it into the dealer for warranty and they said that it was the LED bulbs causing the issue. Does anyone have a fix so that when I step on the brake, I have brake lights? I am actually OK with not having to step on the brake to start it.

I just did this mod over the weekend. And I had to do the relay to make it work, and swap the brown wire with the red/yellow stripe wire in the tail light plug to make it work right. Now my machine was built in 08'. I think they monkeyed around with the wiring in certain years, soo what works for 1 guy may not work on another depending on what year it is.

When I installed the bulbs that the OP listed in this post. The LEDs were lit as if the brakes were on, all the time.

Nope, not a thiing, I just unplugged the OEM and then installed the new ones, had to flip them to get them to work though. They are a high quality bulb as well. I guess I will have to go with the relay, which is a real pain in the you know where. LED's look awesome, but they are sure a pain for pluging into non LED vehicles.

There is two types of lights not sure right off the top of my head but i think one style has the grounds on one side the other has the ground on both look at the light web site if you dont have to ztep on brake to start you probably have the wrong bulb and it is completing the ground for the brake light switch may e somone else can chime in here

Yeah thats it i believe that rzr is the ck bulb that is why your brake lites dont work the two grounds are together if you have the standard bulb

I installed some 3157 CK type LED tail light bulbs over the weekend in my 2011 RZR XP 900. They are truly Plug and Play with no modifications whatsoever.

These are the ones I bought:
3157 Tail Light Brake Light Turn Signal LED Bulbs

They are near the bottom of the page and they are called "3157 Specially Wired" "CK 60 Led"

Other people have used the ones from superbrightleds.com which are only 45 led bulbs, but they work also. The ones from autolumination.com are a few dollars more, but they have 33% more led's.

The stock bulbs melted my tail light lenses and sockets where the bulbs lock in. When you order new tail lights you get the socket and stock bulb with it. I wasn't about to use the stock bulbs and have the tail lights melt again.
