This may have been already discussed but I cannot seem to find it anywhere. I am wanting to see what people are running and liking. On my 900 xp4 I have tried the DWT dunes, STU blaster and some haulers. I liked the DUnes the best because they float. I was looking and say the "Rippers" I think they are, What are you guys running and why? I am looking to buy ASAP at least rears. It makes me sad my dunes wont fit cause they are 12's.

Just don't over paddle your bike, thay are eating belts big time in the sand.

Which strippers? The HP or staggered

The HP are meant for the XP1K
Staggered are for the 900xp and has smaller paddles and are designed so you can slide the rear end around. My friend has STU Blasters on his car and the Strippers are pretty much an identical copy of them just a lot cheaper. Only draw back is they are 6 ply. A little heavier but won't get flats as easy. That's the main reason I went with the strippers. Plus Strippers are 28x14

I want to maintain maneuverability. I dune the most when at the dunes. I just want to make sure I dont over paddle the new toy. Thank you for all the info so far.

Has anyone tried the SAND SLingers?

What are you talkin about.
Skats are not cheap cause they have to take a new tire and buff and apply paddles so there's more labor a cost involved. Skats are the best all around tire PRIUS.

Id have to disagree about skats being the best all around tire. I wont disagree they are a great tire. Came across a guy in glamis two weeks ago who drove over a bush, put an unrepairable size hole in his tire. We've been running stus on my sand cars for years and I have never seen that kinda hole in a tire. Infact a guy in our group is running a sut of stus on his car he bought used in the 80s. Ive owned several skat trek paddles, haulers, taller haulers, always double buffed bead to bead. On my banshee my quadzilla loved the edge tire, my cr 500 ran skat trak tire. Very great high performance light weight tire. I have nothing bad to say about skats. When it was time to buy tires for the rzr I went stus. Just like the durably.

As most people on this site are aware, I have been going through this same dilemma for a bit. The strippers are great. Prob too much in HP model for your application but you can shave the paddle length down or do your own stagger. The Blasters are nice as are the Skats. Btw, the Skats are less than the STU's and the strippers are half of both of them.

If buying on a budget, buy used skats since paddles don't wear like dirt tires no sense buying new. As long as there's no plugs or cuts in the tire you can save a bunch buying used and have awesome paddles. Its just not worth trying to save a few bucks buying doonz or itp or other budget paddles when tires make a big difference compared to other upgrades. STU's are priced through the roof and arguably not better than Skats. Thats another thread. Strippers are interesting since they copy STU's design but are super cheap. I think they will sell a bunch but not sure how they perform

Contact RZRLYD re the strippers. He has them on a stock XP1K and is very happy. He dined along side another that had blasters and they could not tell the difference. They are heavier but I am guessing they perform just as well. Ruff buffs are the best choice for the fronts but unfortunately I haven't found a size that will match the 28" blaster or stripper.

Thanks guys the strippers are looking better and better, I may look into used hauler but what size is the question.

#15 ·
You will need a 30" Skat and there are no used ones anywhere in fact it's very hard to find a new set right now.

#17 ·
well that is no help lol.. your supposed to say look here is a set really cheap.. come on now ... Thanks for the info guys

If you want a brand new set I can direct you to the right person.
If he even has any left.

I spent about an hour with Mark from Sand Tires Unlimited at his shop in Temecula, Ca a couple days ago picking the wizard's brain on set up for the XP1K4 as I just bought mine a few weeks ago and want to be ready for the first dune trip after Christmas.

His opening statement was, no surprise, "It depends HOW you drive and WHERE you drive".

We talked about duneability, hill racing and drag racing as all types of driving preferences. I was most interested in the set up for best duneability for Glamis. He mentioned that Oregon requires more paddle for the same performance...that's how tuned in this guy is to the sand world. We didnt talk about Dumont, Idaho or Utah. Sorry to those of you in those places, my bad.

He took me through sand tire technology and the difference between a street tire having traction and a sand tire having weight displacement properties as opposed to traction. It was all very fascinating.

Once we got down to the meat of it all, he suggested that he was still in the process of doing his own testing to be 100% sure but he was leaning heavily to the following for a great duning experience;

â—Ź28"X14" Sand Blasters with the #1 paddle being stagger cut at a 60 [paddle]/40 [cut] ratio (75/25 for the 2 seater) and given the comp cut treatment. (Comp cutting is the process of taking off most of the rubber between the paddles so the cord is nearly or lightly exposed to lessen the rolling weight by about 7 lbs per tire. Please note that this is an expensive option and might not be for everyone's wallet)

â—Ź28X14 Razor Backs for the front.

One other note, and this is particularly important from a safety standpoint, he mentioned that having the tallest tire(within performance limits) was important because the Rzr1000 will drag the underbelly if the suspension AND the tire is fully compressed on a hard landing. Once those two are compressed the only things left to compress are your seat and your back and that is NOT a good thing.

I hope this helps some of you. Personally I just have to figure out how to tell my wife im going to spend another $2500 on rims and tires for the dunes.

Happing Razoring to all and to all a good night.

Good luck on your 2500 paddles a friend has some comp cut 3 trip in the last 4 months and they won't hold air for more them 5min he was washing his xp when he got back from Glamis with the paddles on and he said they were bubbling all over the carcass of the tire... I have used the sand tires unlimited tires on a xp900 good tire but in my opinion way over price...

The sealer is called AmerSeal. You squeeze it in through the valve stem.

I'm with McGill...want to hear about a 28" 9 hauler in comparison to the 30" 10 hauler. That would be an awesome paddle shootout!

Now someone needs to have Skat make them some 28" 9 extremes for comparison
